Five years of entrepreneurship has brought plenty of lessons, but one Kristin didn’t expect was just how emotional the journey would be.

When you’re responsible for making decisions without always having a clear answer, while knowing other people are depending on the success of the business, the highs can feel really high, and the lows can feel really low.

Over the past five years, Kristin has learned the importance of leaning on the experience of others, staying open to feedback and, maybe most importantly, not letting either the highs or the lows define you.

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re reflecting on the growth, lessons, and people who have shaped Lakeside into what it is today.

For Founder & CEO Kristin Nordling, one of the biggest lessons has been the importance of having the right people in the right roles. As Lakeside grew, Kristin learned that building a strong team wasn’t about hiring people just like her. It was about bringing in people with different strengths, trusting their expertise, and giving them the opportunity to make an impact.

That approach has helped Lakeside grow from an idea into the team and organization we’re so proud of today.
