Historically, “amber” could refer to two very different treasures: Baltic amber, fossilized tree resin, and ambergris, a rare substance originating in s***m whales. Medieval apothecaries valued amber, known as karabe or succinum, and ground it into powders for traditional remedies.

Imagine being King of France. You have castles, armies, unimaginable power… and then you meet your greatest enemy.

A doorway. 🚪

In 1498, King Charles VIII struck his head on a low doorway at the Château d’Amboise. He collapsed and died later that day, at just 27 years old.

The traditional story has gone down in history as one of the most bizarre royal endings ever. The exact medical cause of his death is still debated, but the doorway definitely stole the spotlight.

When the temperature drops below 50° at the Ren Faire and suddenly your entire outfit is just layers upon layers of fabric. 😂

This weekend at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, we busted out the cloaks, hats, gloves, furs, and possibly some extremely un-medieval Hot Hands. 🧤🔥

At this point, we’re not dressing for the Renaissance. We’re dressing to SURVIVE the Renaissance. 🤣

𝗦𝗼, 𝗵𝗼𝘄’𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿?

It’s a gorgeous day at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, the crowds are rolling in, and it’s peak busy season!

And lunch? Lunch is 10 crackers shoved in your mouth between customers. 🤣

Running a small business at faire means you might forget to eat, forget to drink water, and realize you’ve been standing for six hours straight… but you’ll still be smiling and ready for the next customer!
