The Toxies

The Toxies The Toxies is a multi-media campaign to keep communities safe from toxic chemicals and pollutants. www.toxies.com | www.twitter.com/TheToxies

For the last three years, we’ve seen the baddest of the bad toxic hazards take home awards for causing havoc in our communities, on our health and in our environment. However, this year we got a special inside look at what makes these toxics so bad. "The Toxies: Exposed" is a 7-webisode series following a daring investigative journalist as he chases down dangerous Toxie award winners -- from farm

fields to car washes -- and you’re not going to believe what he found! Join us over the next several weeks as we share sneak peeks of the "The Toxies: Exposed" before the worldwide premiere in Los Angeles on August 15th. The Toxies have reached thousands of people across the nation, supporting our advocacy for safer alternatives to toxic chemicals. With your help, we’ll reach even more this year! The Toxies educates the public on the hazards of specific chemicals and demonstrates how we can pull together as neighborhoods, workers, businesses and consumers to eliminate them from our lives. While the award categories may sound similar, these toxic chemicals are dangerous, ubiquitous, and have nefarious careers. The more we know about them, the more we can adopt programs that push them into immediate retirement and inspire green innovation to protect our health and environment for future generations. Important action to take TODAY! Please find your senators on Facebook - http://govsm.com/w/Senate - and post the following:
I am very concerned about toxic chemicals. We need meaningful reform that truly advances protection for public health and the environment. The Udall-Vitter Bill (S. 697) is *not* the answer.

The bill suspends our state's ability to take action against potentially hazardous chemicals, leaving us unprotected for years as EPA conducts studies. It also makes it harder to stop imported products containing toxic chemicals banned in the US.

S.697 isn’t the answer. Post the following on your senators’ page now!

URGENT ACTION CALIFORNIANS! Please take a moment to call Senators Boxer (202) 224-3553 and Feinstein (202) 224-3841 TODAY about the draft Vitter-Udall bill on TSCA reform.
Thank them for their position thus far (both Senators, at the time of this writing, have not signed on to the bill) and for staying strong on protecting public health and California's progressive environmental laws.

Mr. Udall, a Democrat from New Mexico, has emerged as the chief Senate negotiator on legislation that would change how the government evaluates the safety of more than 80,000 chemicals.
