In this clip, Chicago-based Filipino American artist Louis De Guzman breaks down how he reconnects with inspiration…by returning to memory, and letting curiosity interrupt the noise.

Louis is a multidisciplinary artist whose geometric, abstract visual language has taken him from his Chicago studio to global brand collabs. He’s partnered with New Balance (including the floral-inspired 574 honoring his mom), BAIT (for an Astro Boy capsule), SEGA/Sonic the Hedgehog (re-imagined sculptures of Sonic and Shadow), and even created a monumental sculpture and merch line with the Chicago Cubs. His work lives at the intersection of culture, nostalgia, and ambition—a reminder that imagination isn’t something you lose, it’s something you return to with intention.

Meet Bernie Ann Estiandan, a Filipina American transport respiratory therapist who treats the sky like a second workspace and care like a calling. Before all of this, she was a child actress in the Philippines, learning early how to stay steady in moments that asked for more from her.

In this clip, she shares what is next on her horizon. She dreams of bringing critical care pathways to parts of the Philippines where help takes too long to arrive because of traffic, distance, or remote terrain. Her vision is shaped by loss and by love. She has watched time work against the people she cares for, and she wants to change what the wait looks like for someone else.

Her hope is to take what we have here in the United States, the speed and the systems, and make them accessible to communities back home that deserve the same chance at survival. In a country where community health and safety are stretched thin, her mission feels both urgent and deeply personal.
