After averaging at least 93% annually from 2012 through 2015, the for-hire truckload driver turnover rate fell to 81% in 2016 as the freight economy softened significantly. However, as the economy has picked up, so has driver turnover. In 2017 and 2018, turnover in the for-hire truckload sector reached 87% and 89%, respectively.
