Connext: Emerging Nonprofit Leaders Connext promotes the interests of and builds opportunities for emerging nonprofit leaders. Learn | Grow | Serve | Belong | Connect

Connext is a group of volunteer leaders dedicated to promoting the recruitment, development, and retention of emerging professionals in the nonprofit sector, fostering a strong and dynamic nonprofit community. We provide the resources and support emerging nonprofit leaders need to grow both individually and as part of a collective group. Since our founding in 2007 as the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Kansas City, we’ve hosted over 150 programs aimed at advancing nonprofit careers. Over the years, our group has evolved with new events, board members, and goals, but our mission remains the same: to support and empower emerging nonprofit professionals in Kansas City. What could a small grant of 100-250 mean for your career future? For Katie, it was just one step closer to helping her become a Board Certified Art Therapist. Katie applied and was awarded the grant to help cover the cost of the ART-BC exam, not only advancing her career but creating an opportunity for impact in the Kansas City non profit community. Volunteers will spend the day sorting school supplies, organizing inventory, and supporting the Teacher Resource Center—helping ensure thousands of teachers have access to the materials they need to inspire learning.

Calling all emerging nonprofit professionals!

Has the cost of attending that conference or obtaining that certification prevented you from achieving the next stage of your career? Connext is thrilled to, once again, announce our Connext Mini-Grant Fund, providing financial assistance of $50 to $250 to emerging nonprofit professionals in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area!

How can you use the Connext Mini-Grant?

- Conference-related expenses such as registration fees, accommodations, and travel
- Registration fees for locally-based professional development workshops or career networking opportunities
- Professional association memberships
- Exam fees required to earn professional certification
- Other activities evaluated on a case-by-case basis

With more than 35 years of experience in employment law, human resources, executive leadership, and nonprofit governance, Ellen brings a wealth of knowledge and practical insight. As a Founding Member of FineLine Employment Law and FineLine HR Consulting, she has advised organizations on employment issues, workplace investigations, leadership development, and HR strategy.

Her career includes executive leadership roles at Sprint/CenturyLink, teaching leadership and conflict resolution at Rockhurst University, and serving on numerous nonprofit boards throughout the Kansas City community.
