General information
Kenneth W. Bohn was appointed as the forth City of Franklin Chief of Police, who commanded the department from July 1997 to June 2004. During Chief Bohn's tenure, the department operated from police facilities at the far end of City Hall at 9259 West Loomis Road from July 1997 to December 2001, when construction of the Franklin Law Enforcement Center at 9455 West Loomis Road was completed and the department and Municipal Court began operations from the current facilities. The City of Franklin Police Department experienced its largest staffing growth from 39 sworn officers and 11 dispatch/support staff in 1997 to 59 sworn officers and 19.5 dispatchers / support staff in 2004 and most aggressive equipment and facilities development during Chief Bohn's tenure of July 1997 to June 2004. Following the retirement of Chief Kenneth W. Bohn, Inspector Gaylord Hahn served as Interim Chief of Police from June 2004 until the appointment of Chief Richard P. Oliva in May 2005. You know I'm just a guy who had one hell of a great, fulfilling and satisfying life in chosen careers in which I could help others. You see, I spent most of my adult life serving and protecting others through my service as a United States Marine and as a Police Officer at various ranks from Patrolman to Chief of Police. My service to my fellow Americans required me to become proficient in the use of and to carry various types of firearms. My service to my fellow Americans required me to swear an oath to my God that I would defend this great nation and the states I served in and to defend the constitutions of Our United States of America and the states that I served in. Additionally, as a good American citizen, I made the same oath. And of course that oath included protecting the citizens of Our great country and the states I served. I took those oaths seriously, and took them to continue protecting our citizens and our constitutions until my dying breath. President Obama, Vice President Biden and the rest of the liberal Gun Grabers of this country want to strip us of the tools we require to protect our nation and our citizens. They want to destroy OUR Constitutions and OUR Bill of Rights; and they want to eliminate the very things that have kept Our Country free and safe. I for one can not sit back and watch that happen; and I will standby MY Country, Our Citizens, Our Constitutions, and Our Bill of Rights until my dying breath. You know I'm just a guy who had one hell of a great, fulfilling and satisfying life in chosen careers in which I could help others; and I want to be able to continue doing so until the day I die. I love people and I love life. My chosen careers will never make you a financially rich man, and I do not envy rich men. Because the path of serving and protecting others is so much more satisfying and self-rewarding than chasing and praising the almighty buck. Yeah I chose a life time career in which people love you when they need you, but hate you when they don't. But what other careers can you have the satisfaction of running toward what others are running from; and of doing for others what they are afraid to do, can not do, or just refuse to do because it is distasteful or dangerous. Yes I chose the path of being a US Marine and a Police Officer. And you know in reflecting back, I am damn proud of it. My life path has provided me far greater rewards than money can buy, and greater life experiences and a fuller life than the average man can experience in an entire life time. My only regret is that I was not able to help even more people.
