The Administrative Fire Services Section (AFSS) is comprised of fire service administrative professionals throughout the State of California.

The Administrative Fire Services Section (AFSS) is a section of the California Fire Chiefs Association (Cal Chiefs). AFSS is comprised of fire service administrative personnel throughout the State of California and is represented by a Northern and Southern Division. Our Mission: to be an effective support system to all fire service professionals by utilizing the skills of our profession to strengt

hen administrative operations. We are committed to serving the needs and interests of our members by providing a resource network that allows them to increase their proficiency, enhances their professional status, and promotes educational opportunities, and encourages leadership development. We offer quarterly trainings and an annual academy/conference to provide members with relevant, timely education and opportunities to meet with their colleagues locally and across the state.

The Northern Administrative Fire Services Section of Cal Chiefs had a fantastic quarterly training session today at the Consumnes Fire Training Facility. Members earned their CPR certification thanks to the incredible support of our friends at the Yocha Dehe Fire Department.

It was especially meaningful to gather in person—creating valuable opportunities for connection, collaboration, and strengthening our professional network. We’re looking forward to building on this momentum as we head toward our Annual Conference, May 5–7!

Early bird registration has been extended through January 15, 2026.
This extension gives members additional time to take advantage of the discounted registration rates.

In addition, a draft training schedule has been posted for your review. Please note that sessions and speakers are subject to change, but this draft is intended to help with planning and travel approvals.

Every Fire Admin knows this phrase is where the real adventures begin! 😅
Sure, our job descriptions say things like budgeting, scheduling, and recordkeeping… but they don’t mention:
➡️ Babysitting the station’s coffee maker until it finally retires ☕️
➡️ Designing flyers, banners, and maybe even parade floats 🎨
➡️ Becoming the unofficial therapist, event planner, IT support, and lost-and-found manager 🧰💻🎈
➡️ And of course, the keeper of all snacks 🍪
