Eat The Yard

Eat The Yard Eat the Yard is an Oak Cliff based urban farm. We grow organic delicious food and sell it to you. This eventually turned into what now is Eat The Yard.

Founders Stephen Smith and James Jeffers served together in the Army and then lost touch for several years. Only to encounter each other in a gym in Kuwait on the other side of the World as each of them were coming and going in and out of country. After their experiences and starting families of their own growing safe, quality food for their families became important to them. Eat the yard uses a c

losed loop urban farming system that uses urban properties around the local area to grow food and sell it to local grocers and restaurants. They also take the compostable wastes from these vendors to turn it into compost to grow more vegetables and all deliveries, and tractor work is powered by biodiesel sourced locally. As a veteran owned and operated farming business their new mission is to support other veterans gain employment and hopefully start their own farms. Contact them for more information on how to make your yard edible, where you can buy their produce or how you can help.

Dear friends and family I don’t do much social media these days but every year around this time I share with all of you an event that is important to me and important to the veterans that need our support. Memorial day is a day that we honor the fallen and Carry The Load has been holding an event that has special meaning to our country and in our community. I’m reaching out to all of you to give what you can to help support services provided by our nonprofit to veterans and their families and to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Please show your support how you can with whatever gifts you can afford. I love you all and if you made it to the end of this post I’m sorry I missed your Facebook birthday, your graduation or any significant life event you have shared in the past year… peace and love…
