Some days in childcare are just hard.

There are tantrums, sick days, schedule changes, sibling fights, skipped naps and days when absolutely nothing goes according to plan.

But the rest of the job shouldn’t feel hard too.

A true “see a need, fill a need” mentality is essential. This person naturally anticipates rather than waits to be asked and enjoys making family life easier. They will proactively arrange playdates, research activities and outings, keep the children socially and developmentally engaged, prepare for upcoming travel, maintain children's supplies and belongings, and notice the little things that help the household run smoothly. The family wants someone who is engaged and present with the children rather than simply supervising them, someone who enjoys playing, being silly, getting outside, creating activities, reading, talking and singing with the baby, organizing adventures, and fostering the children's natural curiosity. At the same time, the right person understands the importance of structure, consistency, manners, and boundaries and can reinforce these in a loving and positive way. Flexibility and adaptability are essential. The ideal candidate is a team player who is comfortable with a schedule that may shift based on family plans, travel, the children's needs, and weekend coverage. The family currently employs another nanny, so being collaborative and respectful within a household team is important.
