4 years ago, I honesty didn’t have a master plan.
I just had a feeling. A standard I wasn’t willing to lower.
And a promise to myself that I wouldn’t build something by burning people out or cutting corners, like many in this industry did with me.

There were moments I questioned everything.
Moments where doing it “my way” felt super lonely.

But it never felt wrong.

4 years later, I’d choose this path again… every time.

Huge thank you to Jacky & Jordan from Empire Staffing Network.

They specialize in modern hiring solutions for small businesses, and this time, they helped in a different way — by contributing to our treat bags for the kids to help them feel special before heading back to school.

At IEMPOWER, we don’t believe in last-minute sponsors — we believe in on-time blessings, and Empire showed up right when it mattered most.

Thank you for supporting the community and making a difference!

🌈 Being yourself shouldn't feel like a risk.

For a long time, my wife and I kept parts of ourselves small in business settings. We wondered if being open about our relationship would limit us.

Would people take us seriously?

Would it close doors?

We’ve both been in workplaces where we had to code-switch, where we were the only ones, where we questioned if we belonged.

But that fear? That questioning?

It’s exactly why we built our company the way we did.

A place where people come first.
Where no one has to shrink who they are.
Where two women can lead boldly, with love, and without hiding.

This Pride Month, I’m thinking of everyone who’s still wondering:

Should I say something? Will this cost me? Is it safer to stay quiet?

I see you.

I’ve been there.

But being yourself — fully and unapologetically — is what opens the right doors.

Lead with heart.
Love out loud.
You belong here.

💛 Happy Pride.

In all my years of recruiting I've learned that not everyone wants to see you win — especially up close.

I’ve seen it too many times in places i've worked. Heard stories from candidates and even lived through it myself.

You show up. You work hard. You start to shine…

And suddenly?

You’re "too confident."
"Too ambitious."
"Doing too much."

The truth is, some leaders don’t know how to lead people they can’t control.

So they shrink you instead.

They tell you to stay in your lane.
They gatekeep opportunities.
They keep you just comfortable enough not to leave — but never growing enough to rise.

And when I hear people talk about that — and how they started believing it?

It turns my stomach.

Because I see their potential.

I know what they’re capable of.

But when I tell them that — when I show them what’s possible — it can feel unreal to them.

Like I’m just saying whatever to get them in front of my client.

But that’s not me. I’m no arm-twister. I left corporate America because of this exact thing.

I’ve been that person. Questioning everything.

Never thinking I’d be here — owning a company, building something from nothing, pouring myself into every single conversation like it’s personal.

Because it is personal. I get that it might not be for every recruiter, but I do this to help people — not just to place them.

A bad leader can make you feel like you’re nothing.

But not every place is like that.

Not every leader wants to dim your light.

If you’re feeling stuck, boxed in, or questioning yourself — that’s not your fault.

It’s just time for something better.

And when you’re ready to believe in your worth again — I’m here.

Rooting and recruiting for you 🫶🏽

We’ve always said that running a recruiting business together feels a lot like tending a garden. 🌱

You plant seeds (conversations), water them with care (consistency), and over time — you grow something that lasts (real relationships).

Over the last few years, we’ve worked with so many incredible business owners, hiring managers, and job seekers — and what’s stood out the most isn’t the roles we’ve filled... it’s the people we’ve met.

We’ve been invited to weddings.
We’ve cried with clients over tough moments.
We’ve cheered when candidates got the call.

And we’ve had real talks — about families, fears, and what people really need to thrive.

But, That’s what we love most.

Being more than a partner and becoming a trusted voice — and sometimes even a friend.

Behind the systems (that’s Jordan’s zone) and the sourcing (that’s me, Jacky), there’s just two women who genuinely love what we do — and the people we get to do it for.

If you’ve worked with us, you’ve probably gotten a call that started with “how are you doing — really?”

And if we haven’t met yet, just know we’re the kind of team who remembers birthdays, checks in after your kid’s recital, and treats every client like family.

Because in our world, this work we do is super personal.

And that’s exactly how we like it.

Hiring is broken — and it’s burning people out.

According to a recent LinkedIn Talent Solutions report, the average time to fill a role is 44 days.

And in industries where every day short-staffed means lost revenue, delayed production, or overworked teams? That’s not just inconvenient — it’s costly.

I've spoken to dozens of business owners, HR leaders, and managers who are:
-Exhausted from reviewing hundreds of resumes that don’t fit
-Tired of chasing down no-show interviews
-Frustrated by new hires that don’t stick around past 90 days

Working with a headhunter isn’t about “outsourcing hiring.”
It’s about buying back your time, protecting your team, and getting strategic.
Here’s what it really means to partner with a recruiter:

✅ We already know who’s open to making a move — even if they’re not applying online
✅ We’ve done the screening, reference checking, and skill assessments — saving you up to 75% of the hiring process
✅ We give you market insight and salary benchmarks that help you compete (without guessing)
✅ We find culture fits, not just checkbox resumes — so turnover drops by 50% with the right hire

The right person is out there — and closer than you think.

You just need someone to go find them.

I started this business with no money in my pocket and a vision that was mine and no one else’s.

I had just quit a job I hated, knowing I wanted to build something I loved — but honestly, it sounded a lot easier than it actually was.

My Aunt Maritza was my inspiration from day one. She wasn’t just my biggest supporter — she was an entrepreneur herself. Years ago, she owned a small boutique store in Guatemala.

She would always tell me that those years were the best of her life — not because it was easy, but because building something from nothing and making it her own gave her so much pride and purpose.

I remember telling her how much I wanted this, how I wanted to take a mentorship program to figure out how to make it happen — but I didn’t have the money to make it work.

One day, she called me over. In a shoebox was $5,000 — savings she had set aside for a home one day. She handed it to me and said, “I believe in you, and I know you can do it."

With tears in my eyes, I thanked her — because I had never really believed in myself the way she believed in me. But if she could see that potential in me, I knew I couldn’t give up and there was no plan b!

One year later, I doubled what I made at my 9-to-5. My aunt was my biggest fan, cheering me on every step of the way. I could have NOT done this without her support.

Two years after starting Empire, she passed after a short battle with cancer.

But, I was blessed to be able to care for her in her final months — something I never imagined this business would give me the opportunity to do.

Her light, her love, and her unwavering belief in me motivate me every single day. I love you, Tía — forever and always. ❤️

To all the women out there lifting each other up, believing in one another, and paving the way — you are changing lives more than you know.

Last week I attended iLandscape for the first time and had a conversation that really stuck with me.

A Landscaping business owner leaned in and said: “I’ve hired salespeople before. Some talk a big game, but when it comes to actually understanding what we do? They don’t have a clue.”

I felt that. Because it’s something I hear all the time which is pretty crazy!

Landscaping isn’t just about selling services—it’s about knowing the work.
It’s about understanding what goes into a job, what a crew needs to succeed, and how to build trust with clients.

And that’s where so many companies struggle.

✅ They need salespeople who can sell the VALUE of a project—not just chase contracts.
✅ They need estimators who know how long a job actually takes—not just throw out numbers.
✅ They need account managers who don’t just manage clients—they actually build relationships.

But the problem? The right people aren’t always looking.

The best sales reps, estimators, and account managers are already working somewhere else. They’re out there keeping projects on track, building relationships, and making their companies money.

And that’s why hiring for these roles isn’t as simple as posting a job ad.

📌 A great resume doesn’t always mean a great fit.
📌 Hiring fast just to fill a seat? That’s how you end up back in the same spot six months later.
📌 Pay alone isn’t enough to keep good people—leadership matters too.

We can’t tell you how much messages like this review mean to us.

Recruitment isn’t just about filling roles—it’s about understanding people, businesses, and what truly makes a great fit.

Hearing that out clients feel supported, heard, and not just another sale is exactly why we do what we do.

Finding the right person for the job isn’t just about checking boxes—it’s about asking the right questions, listening to what’s really needed, and making sure every placement is a win-win.

To our clients who trust us with their hiring needs—thank you.

Your success is our success, and we are always here to help build strong, lasting teams. 💙

This morning, a memory popped up that took me back to a moment that changed everything.

Today marks the anniversary of Day 1 of a mentorship program I took when I first decided to branch out on my own and start Empire. I remember that version of me—driven, nervous, excited—but also still thinking like someone who came from a traditional agency mindset.

Back then, it was all about numbers.
- How many candidates can we push to the client?
-How fast can we fill a role? Do we know anyone in our pool that we've placed before?

Retention? Long-term impact? Not even a thought.

That mindset shifted real fast when I stepped out on my own. I didn’t want to be just another agency. I wanted to bring humanity back into this business.

A space where clients could trust me, confide in me, and know that I genuinely have their best interests at heart—not just another transaction, but a real partnership.

We’re in a trust recession, and honestly, recruiters have taken some of the biggest hits. Years of overpromising and underdelivering have made hiring leaders feel like recruiters are just a commodity.

A recent study found that only 36% of employees trust their company's leadership, and 46% of candidates say they’ve had a negative experience with a recruiter that made them distrust the entire hiring process.

That’s a problem.

Because hiring isn’t just about filling seats—it’s about building workplaces where people actually want to stay.

The best thing you can do in this business—the real difference-maker—is simply doing what you promised and being transparent.

I love what I do. And I feel incredibly blessed that so many of the people I work with aren’t just clients—they’re friends. That’s what humanity in business looks like.

If you're building a business, leading a team, or just figuring things out—focus on trust first. Everything else follows.

Finding the right fit is tough. Finding the right fit twice? That’s what we do!

I recently caught up with one of our clients who was shocked (in the best way possible) that we nailed the perfect hire not just once—but twice!

A year ago, we placed a candidate who is now thriving in their role, proving to be an invaluable asset to the team. And just recently, we placed another candidate who has already hit the ground running.

No lengthy ramp-up period, no misalignment—just seamless integration and immediate impact.

When you take the time to understand not just the job description but the team dynamics, culture, and long-term goals this is the results you get.

Great hires aren’t just found; they’re placed with purpose.
