Triathlon Parents

Triathlon Parents Training for an Ironman is a daunting task. This is the story of Triathlete Parents tackling their adventures, together. Oh, and the dog.

It is a selfish sport – where training and preparation consumes all available free time, and your life, for an entire year. Imagine doing it with a demanding career. Now imagine doing it with a spouse, and kids. Now imagine doing it with 2 careers, 2 young kids – and your spouse. What began as a blog of Greg and Monique’s journey to tackle Ironman Lake Placid 2014 together, became a community for

other Triathlete Parents who were clamoring to make it all work. Read it and weep, or potentially get inspired to try it on your own.

Luck played a large role in my race at Roth. Has it ever played a role in your races?

I am a true believer that luck is the combination of preparation and opportunity. And avoiding bad luck is as fortunate as receiving good luck. Long distance triathlons are a haven for both. It happened to me at Lake Placid in 2014 when the on coarse bike mechanic arrived seconds after my inner tu...

This is an amazing story about a 4 year old boy saved by an Ironman triathlete after falling into the River Thames.

A child who slipped through railings into the fast-flowing waters of the Thames near the Golden Hinde was rescued with “seconds to spare” by a hero bystander. Mark Maloney, 37, was with colleagues at the The Old Thameside Inn on Bankside, when he was alerted by the mother’s screams for help. Insuran...
