The National Weather Service is predicting inclement weather that may affect our communities in the upcoming days.
Please review these important winter safety tips and take precautions now to protect yourself and your family:
o Stay indoors as much as possible and limit outdoor activity.
o Cover your head.
o Wear mittens rather than fingered gloves.
o Wear warm leg coverings and heavy socks or two pairs of lightweight socks.
o Wear waterproof boots or sturdy shoes.
o Cover your ears, the lower part of your face, and your mouth to protect from frostbite and from directly breathing in extremely cold air.
o Minimize travel if possible.
o For cold weather driving, prepare your car with good tires, a strong battery, and full fluids; keep your gas tank half-full; and drive slowly, increasing following distance, and gently braking to prevent skids, while packing an emergency kit with blankets, food, and a shovel for unexpected stalls.
o Bring pets inside during extreme cold. If it's too cold for you, it's too cold for them.
o And finally, remember to check in on neighbors, especially the elderly.
