Senior Associate of our Life Sciences practice, Alexandra Powell, attended 's Life Sciences Work Conference, hosted by , last Thursday and brought back some interesting takeaways on the current state of the field in Massachusetts, the projected job market, and the hiring outlook for the coming years. We also get some insight into what skills hiring managers and life science, pharmaceutical, and biomed employers will be looking for as technology advances. Part 2 will include some key notes for recent grads!

It's that time of year again! Last year, CBIZ hosted us for the SEC Pro Groups Boston Chapter meeting for Q2 2025. This year, join us in person at Tavern in the Square Dedham!

New unemployment data just dropped from the Bureau of Labor Statistics—and it depends how you read it.

The national rate held steady at 4.3% in March. Year over year, only two states (Ohio and Iowa) saw meaningful improvement. Month over month, just three states—Florida, Tennessee, and Texas—experienced notable increases.

Steady… but we wouldn't call it momentum.

That said, we *have* been seeing a slight increase in jobs here at Daley And Associates for April and May, so optimism for the next BLS report is still in the cards.

The BLS released its report today on non-farm employment and unemployment for February 2026. In this graph you're seeing seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for Major metropolitan areas in the U.S. this month. Unemployment is up compared to this time last year in approximately two-thirds of U.S. metropolitan areas, and national unemployment is up by 0.2% (4.7% this Feb, compared to last February).
