My dawg Michael! We had his funeral last Friday and all I can think about is his impact on me. Mike made me think of the quote, “Preach the Gospel at all times, and sometimes use words.” Mike didn’t say much, but Mike made you feel good. He made you feel as if you were the only person in the room. He was committed. We bonded over basketball, He loved Steph Curry. If I said anyone other than Curry he would laugh cause he thought it was nonsense. Mike had a smile that could light up a room. Mike was the perfect example that you don’t have to say much, but you can let your actions speak for you. Love my dawg, until we meet again!

Run Your Race, Finish Your Race

Marathons reveal who you truly are and highlight areas for improvement. Throughout my 11.5-year journey, I’ve learned that the path to success involves understanding your “why,” the environment in which you train, the company you keep, and the importance of self-care and personal development.

My marathon began at Tuskegee in 2013 as a mechanical engineering major and hoping to play basketball, due to injuries it never happened. I continued at UAB from 2015 to 2017 majoring in Kinesiology, and then God led me to Highlands College in 2018 and graduated in 2020 after studying Pastoral Leadership. My time at HC helped me grow because it revealed how inconsistent I was. In 2024, I returned to UAB and graduated with a degree in Psychology.

These 11.5 years were filled with failures, but they were also years of profound self-discovery, maturation, and foundational work. Each setback taught me valuable lessons and pushed me to grow.

This marathon has set the stage for the monumental races ahead.

No matter the obstacles, I’ve learned to see it through.

Masters Next.
Ph.D after that.
