This is me in my natural habitat (jammies). I swear if I could do hair in them I so would. I wanted to jump on here real quick because I realized I rarely talk about who I am.
My name is Tonja (the "J" is pronounced). I have been a stylist since 1997 😮 I just gave away my age here 😉
I live in central Vermont but have lived and worked in NYC, Maine, NH and have traveled around for work in many other states. I briefly worked with a rap artist and on a few music videos (doing hair).
I have 6 rescue dogs🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕 and actually have a nonprofit organization that rescues and rehomes dogs from high kill shelters. I also have another organization that provides free haircuts to Vermont's homeless communities. Both of these are near and dear to my heart.
I work at an amazing salon where I am free to create my art and pamper my guests. I absolutely love doing hair, I knew at 5 years old this was what I wanted to be. I can't imagine doing anything else. Since I picked up my first pair of scissors✂️ I had the mantra of leaving the industry better than I found it. By providing education and eradicating competition between hairstylists.
I am so proud to be part of an industry where creative expression is a must and I am so thankful for all the guests who let me do their hair. Love to you all. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Hygiene bags all filled and ready to go to the Berlin Police Department tomorrow for them to hand out at the encampments. Covid-19 doesn't discriminate!! These are vital items for Vermont's homeless communities. does more than haircuts (which we can't do right now) we provide essential items which we do because of the AWESOME people who donate items & money to help us support Vermont's homeless!

It is with great sadness that I have to write this but due to the outbreak and continuing spread of COVID-19 we at Haircuts 4 the Homeless VT, being listed as a non essential organization will have to cancel out our shelter visits until further notice. We want everyone to be safe and to do that we must all practice social distancing and isolation. We are aware that Vermont's homeless communities cannot always afford that luxury as shelters are close proximity housing. We will still be making hygiene bags and leaving them with the best people who are able to make sure they get to the people who need them. One we get the all clear to perform haircuts again our director will call each shelter, teen home and women's shelter to set up new dates and times to have our teams of stylists once again provide free haircuts to all of Vermont's homeless. Be safe, stay healthy and isolate

Dear licensed cosmetologists and barbers,
It's that time again. Vermont's homeless will be coming out of encampments and will be needing our help. Did you know a haircut can boost self esteem, confidence and even help motivate people to achieve goals. For most of Vermont's homeless their goal is to be.... not homeless and to do that they need employment and to get employed they need to look presentable. No matter how good your outfit is if your hair is not on point it will effect your chances of getting the job.
This is where we come in, Haircuts for the homeless VT is a nonprofit organization using only volunteer services from licensed professionals like YOU!!!
We go into Vermont's homeless shelters, at risk teen homes and women's domestic violence shelters to provide FREE haircuts to all those in need. We also work with churches to host people who are in tent cities and encampments so that they are also able to come in and get a fresh cut.
We operate from April through September and we strive to visit as many places as possible traveling throughout the state.
So no matter where you live you can help!!! Last year we visited a record amount of 15 locations from St. Albans all the way to Brattleboro.

This doesn't have to be done during the holiday season only. Do it any time. Tax returns are coming up soon. And our homeless community NEEDS items vital to their survival.
1. Socks
2. Hats
3. Gloves
4. Sleeping bags
5. Blankets
6. Long John's
7. Sweatshirts
8. Snow pants
9. Hand warmers
10. Jackets

So if you have any of these items in new or gently used that is just sitting around not being used drop them off at Salon Becci or call me and I will pick them up. 802-828-7700

Christmas is just around the corner and Haircuts 4 the Homeless VT still needs more items to make hygiene bags for men and women who are living in homeless encampments and tent cities. We can only give hope to these people with YOUR help. We still desperately need the following items
1. Women's sanitary supplies
2. Gloves
3. Hats
4. Throw blankets
5. Socks 《----- big need!!!
You can get everything on this list at the dollar store! Yep only $5.00 can help someone in need.
