Shirakawa Village in Japan has an automatic sprinkler system designed to protect its historic thatched-roof houses from fires. When a fire is detected, approximately 60 concealed sprinklers emerge and release high-pressure water to extinguish the flames.

This innovative system is part of the village's efforts to preserve its traditional architecture, which is particularly susceptible to fire.
