Spent years in the Marine Corps focusing on how to make decisions. I'm a believer in the idea that a good decision executed swifly and violently now, is better than a perfect decision tomorrow. Exciting news as the coolest wife ever (I'm totally not biased here), Shane McCrary Miller, takes the helm of the Rust Foundation as the 1st Chairwoman of the Board.

Shane Miller, Amazon Web Services Senior Engineering Manager will take on the job of the newly created Rust Foundation's first chairperson.

Years ago a officer and friend recommended I read the White Donkey. It's a graphic novel, so took me awhile to get around to it. Since reading it, I have stressed and browbeaten just about every Marine I know into reading it. It is hard, brutal, gritty, and will leave you feeling as if you've been punched in the gut. It is a must for every officer and leader to read. Its perspective on loneliness, loss, and the struggles of war and after war still sit with me today.

I could listen to Schmedes tell me about fishing all day long. For me it's an incredible throw back to our time together as Marines in the 90s. He was literally the funniest human being I had ever met. Funny how much time and distance between us is irrelevant. This old Marine is a diehard fisherman, which I guess makes me a diehard fisherman, I just suck at it. Take a quick view and drop him some love. (Seriously, I must know how this boat turns out)
