KEY TO SUCCESS - “No one ever attains very eminent success by simply doing what is required of him; it is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction.”

Interview Tip #5 - Use recruiting firms! Since recruiting firms are paid by their client companies, they should know much more about the client and position than if you were to find a job on your own. List yourself with as many recruiters as you can. They will have clients that do not advertise on job boards, etc. They cannot promise you they can get you the job, but their coaching, client knowledge, and ability to negotiate on your behalf make them an invaluable resource.

Interview Tip #4 - DO YOUR BEST! Do not take an interview just to practice your interview skills. Take it seriously - the purpose of every interview is to get the job offer. You don't have to take the offer, but your goal should be to get one. Without an offer, there's no choice to make!

Interview Tip #3 - DRESS PROFESSIONALLY! You may not need to wear a suit to your new job every day, but in order to be taken seriously and professionally on your interview you must wear a suit. Go out and buy one if you do not have one - no sports jackets and slacks, or party dresses - a suit. It will be an investment in your future. Men - wear a dark suit that fits, white shirt and conservative tie - no wild colors or patterns. Women - wear a skirt suit preferably. Not too short - dark colors with stockings and closed toed shoes. Blouse should never be too low cut and jewelry should be modest if at all - pearl or diamond stud earrings are fine. Hair should be put up if it's too long it can be distracting. No perfume or cologne - I've had it backfire on too many candidates - the main thing - You do not want your clothes or your smell to be what the employer remembers - You want them to remember your qualifications, personality and overall fit for the job!

Interview Tip #2 - DO YOUR RESEARCH! Google the company you're interested in interviewing with and Google the person you will be meeting. Search for any information you can to discover as much about the company, the history of the position and the person you are interviewing with. You never know what you can learn and that may set you apart from all the rest, plus you'll be more prepared!

Interview Tip #1 - Get your resume together - preferably with a professional resume writer who will interview you. Review your resume for content (accomplishments) and grammar!
