We are pleased to share that our recent "Thankful for You" Lunch & Learn event, hosted for our clients and local employers, was a great success. It was an honor to have Kevin Kilcoyne, CIC, CRM, CSP from the Barrow Group, as our guest speaker. Kevin provided valuable insights into what OSHA looks for during job site inspections, and his expertise was greatly appreciated by all in attendance.

We look forward to hosting more events that benefit our community and clients in the future. As an employer, we would greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts on topics you would like us to highlight in upcoming events. Your feedback is important to us and will help shape our future programming.

Job Description

Electro-Mechanic A General Summary

The Electro Mechanic is an hourly position and reports to the Maintenance Leader. The Electro Mechanic is responsible for the reliability performance, repair and maintenance of mechanical devices in the plant, including pneumatic and hydraulic devices. In addition, the Electro Mechanic is responsible for repairs and maintenance on electrical devices

Electro-Mechanic A Primary Responsibilities

React to process and equipment issues, preventive and predictive maintenance, as well as elimination of special cause variation while driving safety & quality and optimizing plant efficiency.
Adhere to all safety and housekeeping programs and policies to build and maintain a safe, accident-free work environment.

Utilize machines, equipment and measuring instruments to perform tasks including, but not limited to; precision alignment, predictive maintenance, balancing, welding, pipe fitting, equipment repair. Insure availability of required items &/or inventory. Provide support and leadership to other craft and non-craft employees in the performance of maintenance tasks.

Plans and performs operational maintenance, including Lubrication, to machinery and equipment associated with plant operations.

Assist with the developmental and/or experimental projects. Utilize computer expertise to complete records and reports and manage data (includes work orders, inventory, failure & trend analysis sheets, checklists, requisitions, audit sheets, etc.). Utilize basic carpentry skills as needed for the position. Utilize fork lift, cranes, and other related mobile equipment, license obtained where necessary.

Follow lock-out tag-out procedures; will not perform electrical repairs or maintenance on equipment while energized.

Complete motor replacement and replace any defective wiring or flexible conduit for the motor in question. Preventative Maintenance routines result in identifying a need to repair, replace, or adjust limit switch arms, proximity switches (for position), pushbuttons, etc.

Inspect, dismantle, repair, replace, install, clean and assemble as necessary to maintain machinery/equipment/buildings as necessary.

Read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine method and sequence of assembly of a part, machine, or piece of equipment.

Minimal travel required for training, etc, as determined by Supervision.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Work rotating shift schedule and mandatory overtime as required.

Electro-Mechanic A Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; works well in group problem solving situations; and, uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and looks for ways to improve and promote quality.

Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; and, able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

Completes work in timely manner, and strives to increase productivity.

Observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions, and uses equipment properly. Must not be afraid of heights.

Consistently at work and on time, remains on duty until relieved or given permission to leave.

Follows instructions, commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals, and completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person as needed.

Basic understanding of computers and must be able to pass the online Bennett Mechanical test.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Electro-Mechanic A Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

One year certificate from college or technical school.

Two to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Combined knowledge of mechanical technology with knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits.

Electro-Mechanic A Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, stoop, kneel, and safely lift up to 75 lbs.

Must be able to use hands or fingers to handle, feel, and/or reach.

Must be able to use senses to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.

Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time.

Must be able to occasionally work in wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions.

The noise level is usually moderate.

Total Compensation

Pay $30.65 - $31.05

We are currently hiring Fabrication Operators in Hampton.

Job description
Plans and performs a variety of fabrication operations utilizing contact bender, vibrating equipment, punch press, foot shear, solder and drill press to drill, bend, shear, punch, solder and clean work pieces to fabrication drawing specifications by performing the following duties:
1. Reads blueprint, work order, shop notes and tooling instructions for specifications such as hole locations and size, length of cut, bend lengths, bend angles and type of cleaning and gauging to perform.
2. Communicate with team leader to determine the proper method to complete the assigned job.
3. Vibrate contacts by placing contacts in vi****or, clamping and starting machine.
4. Do minor set ups on contact bender.
5. Bend contacts by placing part in contact bender and moving lever to operate machine.
6. Verify proper contact bend by referencing blueprint.
7. Operate punch press machines. (No set up required)
8. Assemble contacts by pressing rivets into parts and soldering with induction machine.
9. Make shunts using tape measure, foot shear, band saw, tin pot and hammer. 10. Grind, file and sand aluminum or steel parts to meet print specifications.
11. Clean weld spatter from welded assemblies.
12. Clean, polish and buff silver brazed parts to print specifications.
13. Set contacts to print specifications using gauges and hand tools.
14. Sand blast parts using hand held hose with foot pedal or hand lever to control the flow of sand.
15. Maintain equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition.

- Positions and secures components on assembly fixture if required.
- Inspects and measures parts to ensure specified tolerance and quality.
- Places parts in specified relationship to each other following assembly blueprints.
- Fasten parts together with bolts, clips, screws, cements, or other fasteners, using hand tools and portable power tools.
- Tends machines such as drill presses, punch presses or riveting machines, to perform drilling, force fitting or fastening at assembly stations.
- Marks identifying information on parts.
- May remove small quantities of metal with hand files and air files to produce close fit between parts.
- Works at different work stations as production needs change.
Installs switch components, such as bearings, insulators, jaws, hinges, blades or counterbalances.
- Works on assembly line or work station where tasks vary as different models progress through production processes.
- Reworks, repairs, or replaces faulty components.
- Cleans and lubricates parts and assemblies.
