"From the years of 1842 through 1858, John T. Ward, the original owner, helped conduct the Underground Railroad that ran below Columbus during the war. By doing this, he gave shelter to escaped slaves underneath his home, which was a very well known stop back in the day. Happy 2024!

It feels strange to celebrate the end of just this last year. The last 3 years are an era all their own that have common and wildly different meaning for all of us at the same time. "What does that mean for 2024?" is not a question we will ask, it's an action we're going to take here at Onyx It Search.

This year, we will let joy win. We're going to celebrate everything. We'll ring our cow bell when we reap the rewards of not only hard work but also our hard lessons learned. We will indulge and be a little "extra" for no other reason than to bring a smile. We're committed to creating fun, embracing it and celebrating it. Laughter will be our melody and our battle rhythm. We will spread joy and embrace it wholeheartedly. There is no mindset we cannot master for ourselves. Let's get it in 2024!

So, your turning your passion idea into a real company. A start up!

You laid out the framework, you know what to do... mostly. You secured the loan or closed a round of funding or you're finally generating revenue.

Demand is growing, you need to build your team to stay on track. You know exactly what kind of talent you're looking for. It can't be that hard, right?

3 months later and that 1 or 3 jobs are still posted... you've spent hundreds to thousands on job postings, LinkedIn seats and probably a scam or two...

Somehow a plumber ended up on your calendar for a AI/ML Engineer position... you're feeling the pain of that vacant role and it's taking a tole.

There are several factors at play when searching for that just right fit to the role you set out to fill by the end of the month...last quarter:
* Employer Branding
* Candidate Personas
* Benefits, perks, packages
* Hiring manager support (what does that even mean?)
* Swift hiring process that uncovers all the bases
* Write, pay for and post job ads
* Sourcing very few or mountains of candidates

A few reasons to go for that new role in Q4!

1. Job security is a myth!
Job stability can often be deceptive, particularly during economic downturns. It can be influenced by various factors such as market conditions, technological advancements, and corporate restructuring. Although it can be difficult, look at your job and your situation from a business perspective, not an emotional one, and make the best decision for yourself. Your employer is doing the same.

2. Bonuses are NOT guaranteed and could cost you precious time!
Holding out for a bonus may not work out as planned. Companies often choose to preserve resources as they brace for economic downturn and canceling payouts is at the top of the list. Do the math: take a look at what you're earning, check the market (call us) and balance the risk of waiting with what you can earn in a new role.

3. The competition is on vacation (and/or shopping).
The tech job market remains strong despite economic downturns and layoffs. It may have touched someone you know and has been sensationalized in the news but the numbers are strong. As we close out 2024, employers continue to have a high demand for top talent and they are still hiring!

4. Don't push that start date into Q1!
You may be tempted to "start fresh" in Q1 but Q4 is a great time for onboarding. The pressure to start contributing right away is generally near none. Get to know your coworkers, systems, clients and policies. You’ll hit the ground running in January with all the tools for success!
