Madalas na binibigyan ng media coverage ang mga public figure na namatay ng dahil sa su!cide. Sa mental health at psychology, may tinatawag na Werther effect na kung saan tumataas rin ang rate ng su1cide kapag na-expose ang isang tao sa dami ng rate na nawawala ng dahil rito lalo na kapag nagmumula ito sa sikat na celebrity o kilalang tao.

Sa kabilang banda, pwedeng mapababa ito sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay rin ng mga balita kung paano ito maiiwasan. Ito naman ang kilala sa tawag na Papageno effect.
