Building the Foundation of Ethical Leadership in Criminology
True leadership begins with self-awareness! Our 1st-year BS Criminology students gathered for Part 1 of today’s morning Seminar on Character Formation with the theme: Mastering the Self First: Emotional Intelligence and Character Formation in Criminology, diving deep into character formation and the vital role emotional intelligence plays in their personal and professional growth.
Our resource speaker, Mr. Jerwin Tonillo Lique, RPm, LPT (Junior High Teacher & School Guidance Designate, Bartolabac Integrated School), led an inspiring session on mastering one's emotions and building character integrity - setting a strong standard for public service.
The highlight of the session came during the Open Forum, where our first-year students shared their key takeaways, personal realizations and reflections on how emotional maturity shapes an effective law enforcement officer.
Sincere appreciation to Mrs. Melina Barruga Guran Bartolay (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Ma. Carmina Cantonjos (Acting Dean, CCJE) and to Mr. James Francis Amistad for keeping the program running smoothly as our Master of Ceremony.
This event aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education by delivering dynamic, character-centric learning that prepares students for the demands of their future field. It supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by prioritizing mental health and emotional awareness among students, equipping them to navigate stress and build personal resilience. Additionally, it advances SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by instilling core values of ethical governance, self-discipline, and integrity in our future criminologists.
