Kahayag Theatre Collective Culture and Arts ‘Subay sa Buhing Kabilin’

The Kahayag Theatre Collective (KTC) is a non-profit oriented performing arts group composed of young professionals and out-of-school youth of Toril District who aspire to become ambassadors of goodwill through Philippine arts and culture. Founded in 2003 as an intervention program under the pilot project of Kahayag Foundation (a non-government organization) on primary prevention on substance use

and abuse, the organization had undergone series of theatrical workshops and soon became the only performing arts group recognized by the district of Toril as an independent and community based organization. However, due to foundation’s budget constraints and immobilization, the organization’s performances were greatly affected but nevertheless; KTC continues to flourish and has been true to its objectives – the preservation and propagation of Philippine arts and culture through theatrical exhibition and education. Today, Kahayag Theatre Collective continues to increase its number as it conducts annual recruitment and workshops to the different communities in the third district. The organization competes and sponsors various cultural events in and off the city and has been invited to perform on various occasions such as hotel inaugurations and conventions. Furthermore, KTC extends its horizon not only in the field of the performing arts but also in the realms of visual arts, film, literary and music.
