Bayanihan at Sea: Philippine Navy Carries Aid for Masbate
In a strong display of Bayanihan and inter-agency cooperation, the Naval Forces Southern Luzon (NFSL) will deploy BRP Agta (LC-290) to transport humanitarian aid and medical personnel to Masbate Province on October 14, 2025.
The mission is a collaborative effort of Radyo Pilipinas Naga, Care 104.3 DWAY FM Legazpi, and Ako Bicol Party List, in partnership with NAVFORSOL, to support families affected by Tropical Storm Opong. It combines relief distribution and a medical-dental mission as part of continuing government efforts to restore normalcy in storm-hit areas of Bicolandia.
A total of 1,100 kilograms of rice, 200 pails containing 15 kilograms of assorted grocery items each, 8 boxes of 10-liter bottled water, 6 boxes of 1-liter bottled water, 30 pieces of 5-meter tarpaulins, and 50 hygiene kits will be shipped aboard BRP Agta bound for Masbate City and Dimasalang. These supplies were gathered through community donation drives initiated by partner agencies and volunteers.
The relief mission will coincide with Ako Bicol Party List’s Medical and Dental Mission scheduled on October 15, 2025, at the Covered Court, Brgy. F. Magallanes, Masbate City, where the NAVFORSOL Medical and Dental Team will join in delivering free health services to the local community.
Under the leadership of COMMODORE SALVADOR G. LAVAPIE JR., PN, Commander of NFSL, BRP Agta will serve as the primary vessel transporting both relief goods and mission personnel.
This joint endeavor exemplifies the enduring partnership between the Philippine Navy and its stakeholders, united in the shared mission of service, compassion, and solidarity with the Filipino people.
