We’re looking for reliable and hardworking orchard workers to join our apple & kiwifruit teams in Lower Moutere, Motueka. The roles are hands-on and essential to ensuring our orchards produce high-quality fruit. It’s ideal for people who enjoy working outdoors, don’t mind a physical work, and want to be part of a friendly, collaborative team. Reasonable fitness is required, as the roles involve working on your feet throughout the day and regularly climbing ladders during apple thinning.

What you’ll be doing:
Apple Bud/Flower Thinning & Pruning Positions - 8 positions
Dates: Approx start 24th September till 12th October
Position description: removing excess buds and flowers and pruning uprights, ladder will be used.
Rate: $23.50 + 8% holiday pay ($25.38)
Working hours: Weather dependable. Monday till Friday (7.30am – 4pm with increasing to 9-hr days later in the season). You must be available to work weekends (mainly Saturday).

Then you can move into the following position:
KIWIFRUIT WORKER - 14 positions
Dates: Approx start 13th October until 26th November 2025
Position description: bud thinning, tip crushing, string training and general orchard work.
Rate: $23.50 + 8% holiday pay ($25.38)
Working hours: Weather dependable. Monday till Friday (7.30am – 4pm with increasing to 9-hr days later in the season). You must be available to work weekends (mainly Saturday).

Then you can move to the following position:
APPLE TREE THINNER
Dates: Approx start 26th November until 24th December (some positions available in new year)
Position description: Removing excess fruitlets and poor-quality fruit from the trees, using a 2.4m ladder
Rate: $23.50 + 8% holiday pay ($25.38) or/and contract (piece) rates
Working hours: Weather dependable. Monday till Friday (6.30am – 5pm; 10-hr days). You must be available to work weekends (mainly Saturday).
We have some flexibility in working hours to accommodate working parents and students

It’s been a week since the NZ Ethical Employer Conference in Blenheim, and I’m still feeling grateful and energised! 🌱

🏪 Working hours: Generally Monday till Saturday 8.00-4.30 (with occassional extended hours - approx until 5.30pm)

✅ It’s been a massive month as picking season ramps up in our beautiful region!

✔ Supported two local orchards with staffing—an ongoing effort as we hit peak season, with the first kiwifruit bins now being picked.
✔ Created 25+ job descriptions and issued 150+ employment agreements electronically.
✔ Hired 30+ new staff over the last few weeks.
✔ Published an internal newsletter for business
✔ Facilitated GRASP compliance and got the elections underway with fantastic (and engaged) staff.
✔ Attended an HR Law conference to stay updated on industry best practices.

👀 Watch this space—another exciting project is in the pipeline!
