About the role
Etienne Talent is looking for an experienced freelance Wells Cost Controller for an interim assignment with an international energy company operating in the Dutch North Sea.
You will be responsible for cost management, forecasting, and financial reporting across the full lifecycle of drilling, well intervention, and P&A activities.
You will work closely with Wells, Subsurface, Operations, and Finance teams.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain cost estimates, forecasts, and risk assessments for drilling, well intervention, and P&A activities
* Develop and manage cost tracking structures, WBS frameworks, and daily drilling cost trackers
* Monitor rig, vessel, and contractor costs against approved AFEs and budgets
* Prepare variance analyses, management dashboards, and monthly cost reports
* Support budgeting processes, period-end close activities, and IFRS reporting
* Coordinate joint venture partner cost reporting where applicable
Your profile
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in cost control within upstream oil & gas, preferably wells and drilling
- Proven knowledge of AFE methodology, WBS, commitment management, and forecast-at-completion
- Experience with North Sea operations is a strong advantage
- Advanced proficiency in SAP, Excel and Power BI
- Degree in Finance, Engineering or Economics or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Dutch is an advantage
- Working as an independent contractor with your own registered company
