Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, emphasized the importance of leveraging Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) to create jobs, stimulate growth, and improve the quality of life in Nigeria. Speaking at a sectoral retreat in Abuja, he urged Nigerians to harness the country’s abundant talent and resources for national development. Nnaji highlighted the retreat as an opportunity to reflect on progress, reassess strategies, and recommit to achieving the high standards set by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He noted that the eight presidential priorities, which focus on economic growth, social inclusion, and good governance, require strong collaboration and a relentless focus on results. Nnaji acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence that with the right strategies and collective effort, these challenges can be overcome.

The Permanent Secretary of FMIST, Mrs. Esubana Nko Asanye, and the Director General of FIIRO, Dr. Adamu Tutuwa Jummai, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for a robust Performance Management System and a shift from a consumption-based economy to one driven by production.

The Director General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, shared productivity tips with civil servants during the July Edition of the MRDC Walking and Jogging Exercise. He revealed that maintaining high physical and mental fitness is his key to productivity.

Prof. Ike-Muonso noted that many civil servants live a sedentary lifestyle, affecting their health and workplace productivity. He stressed that regular exercise leads to agility and better results at work. He also shared how fitness and continuous studying have been pivotal in his career success, expanding his knowledge and motivating him daily.

He praised the staff for attending the monthly exercise, emphasizing that such events foster unity within the council. Staff members expressed excitement at the DG’s participation, noting it was the first time a director general and top management team joined the exercise in large numbers. They applauded his efforts to unify the RMRDC community and his initiatives to revolutionize the council.

Highlights of the event included running competitions and medal presentations to staff members who excelled at the Federal Public Service Games in Minna, Niger State.
