’s data center boom happened fast. 🇲🇾⚡

In 2019, Singapore paused approvals for new large-scale data centers as it reviewed growing electricity and sustainability pressures.

But regional demand didn’t stop.
With more land, expanding infrastructure and close proximity to Singapore, Johor quickly emerged as the next major destination for data center investment.

The scale of growth has been huge —
from around 10MW of capacity in 2021 to a 1,500MW+ development pipeline by 2024.
By 2025, Johor had 42 approved data center projects worth RM164.45 billion.

Today, that growth is spreading across key clusters such as Sedenak, Kulai, Senai, Iskandar Puteri and Johor Bahru.

And for jobseekers, data centers are creating opportunities far beyond IT — across electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, automation, facilities and operations.

Swipe through to see how Johor got here — and what this growth could mean for Malaysia’s engineering workforce.

🇲🇾 Happy Malaysia Day!

On 16 September 1963, Sabah and Sarawak became founding partners in the formation of Malaysia we know today, shaping the nation and the shared story we continue to carry today.

Malaysia Day reminds us that Malaysia was formed across different lands, communities, cultures and histories — with Sabah and Sarawak at the heart of that story.

Today, we celebrate their identity, heritage and enduring place in the Malaysia we call home. 💚

👀 Would you queue 2 KM for a job interview?

In June 2026, more than 1,000 jobseekers reportedly turned up for an Infineon walk-in recruitment session in Melaka — some arriving as early as 5 AM.

It was a striking reminder of how much attention a walk-in interview can attract.

Unlike a scheduled interview, walk-in interviews allow candidates to meet recruiters at a stated time and venue without arranging an appointment beforehand.

But showing up is only the first step.

Before attending one:

🔍 Research the company and role
📄 Bring multiple copies of your résumé
👔 Dress professionally
⏰ Arrive early
💬 Prepare your introduction and common interview answers

🇲🇾 How did Penang go from a struggling port economy to the "Silicon Valley of the East"?

It didn’t happen overnight.

By the late 1960s, Penang was losing its free-port advantages and needed a new economic direction.

Then came a major industrial bet.

Under Chief Minister Lim Chong Eu, Penang pushed towards export-oriented manufacturing, backed by the Penang Development Corporation.

In the early 1970s, the arrival of the “Eight Samurai” — including Intel, AMD, Bosch Home and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HP) — helped kick-start a new electronics industry in Bayan Lepas.

More than 50 years later, the scale looks very different:

⚡ RM350B+ in electrical and electronics exports in the first half of 2026
🇲🇾 60%+ of Malaysia’s electrical and electronics exports come from Penang
🌏 5%+ of global semiconductor sales are attributed to the state

But the story isn’t only about making more.

Penang is also moving further into advanced manufacturing, chip design, testing, automation and research — with local firms increasingly becoming part of that shift.

And that creates the next challenge:
talent.

Malaysia needs far more engineers and technical talent to sustain the next phase of semiconductor growth.

The factories came first
The next chapter needs engineers 💚

🇲🇾 On 31 August 1957, our founding father Tunku Abdul Rahman stood at Stadium Merdeka and raised his hand as Malaya celebrated its independence.

It became one of the most recognisable images in our history.

Decades later, that same gesture would find its way into Kuala Lumpur’s skyline.

Look closely at Merdeka 118.

Its distinctive form and soaring spire were inspired by Tunku Abdul Rahman’s outstretched hand during the declaration of independence — reaching upward beside the very stadium where that historic moment took place.

From a raised hand to a rising skyline, the connection feels almost poetic.

One represents the moment a nation stepped into its future, the other stands as a reminder of how far that nation has travelled since.

Today, we celebrate not only the history that brought us here, but also the Malaysia we continue to build together.

Selamat Hari Merdeka ke-69, Malaysia. 🇲🇾

Bersekutu Bertambah Mutu.
