Today, I want to speak directly to the hardworking, courageous, and resilient individuals who form the backbone of so many homes—our domestic workers.
To each of you: thank you. Thank you for showing up every day with dedication, for caring for children who aren’t your own as if they were, for keeping homes clean and warm, for preparing meals, and for making life easier for the families you serve.
Your work is not small. It is not invisible. It is powerful. It matters.
Many of you have made sacrifices—leaving your own families behind to care for others, working long hours, sometimes in silence, and often without the recognition you truly deserve. But today, I want to say clearly: you are seen. You are valued. You are appreciated.
Being a domestic worker takes strength, intelligence, and heart. You manage time, care for others, adapt to different homes and expectations, and do so with incredible grace. Never doubt the importance of what you do.
You also have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. You deserve fair wages, rest, kindness, and safe working conditions. Don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself, to ask questions, to seek support when needed. Your voice matters.
And remember—you are not alone. There are people, organizations, and communities that stand with you and believe in your rights and wellbeing. Pillars Homecare Services, for example, exists to support you, protect you, and ensure that your work is recognized and respected.
So, keep holding your head high. Be proud of who you are and the work you do. The homes you care for are better because of you. And the world is a better place because of your strength.
Thank you for everything you do.
