The World Food Programme is planning to build a major irrigation dam to enhance agriculture and food production in my home village, Ngilai. Today, engineers—working closely with the community, local chiefs, and village administrators—successfully conducted public participation, carried out surveys, and officially kicked off the project design.

I sincerely thank the World Food Programme team for this impactful initiative. Last week, alongside the Department of Agriculture and the County Assembly Committee on Agriculture, where I serve as Vice Chairperson, I had the privilege of attending a project briefing meeting in Nakuru. We remain hopeful and prayerful that this project will be truly transformative for our community.

JOSPHINE KIRION Eragae from Isiolo County has been appointed as a Member of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission following today's appointments made by President William Samoei Ruto.
The appointment places her within the national body mandated to promote peace, unity, and cohesion among Kenya’s diverse communities.
She was congratulated by Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo and Woman Representative Mumina Bonaya, who praised her elevation to the national commission.
They said her appointment reflects confidence in professionals from Isiolo taking up key roles in national service.

EASTER 1993. THE FIRST DISCO DANCE IN BENDERA and NGILAI VILLAGES- BARAGOI- Lmampuli Classics!

It was Easter 1993 and I was neatly dressed in my newly acquired Tokyo trouser and Avanti Shirt, my friend Ltajemi Leleruk had shaven my hair with scissors and left my head struck with a ‘punk’ hair style. My legs were inside the best shoes of the time- Sandak! For those who don’t remember Sandak, they were type of shoes made of polythene and plastic and were easy to repair, all you needed was a jerican cutting and hot knife to mend a hole. My body was neatly smeared with ‘lata e laishimi' since no goat had died so that we could acquire mutton (sireet) which would have given better pedicure and manicure results.

Feeling satisfied that I was the best, I headed to the nearby primary school where we had secured a class for the event. From the distance I could hear the vibes of Shaka Shaka, Shaba Ranks, Pat Shange, Pamela Nkutha and Sydney Wafulaya. I rushed since as per the rules I was among the chosen few to open the disco floor alongside Amos Lentoimaga, Thomas Lekatap and Loipokopeny. I reached in time and was shaking just like every other warrior whenever such melodies are on air.

Our immaculate girls were present and were 15 in number. The attire they were putting on was the best- I swear!! Precisely, 8 of them had white shirts, Kenya uniform skirts and Pums in their feet, 3 of them were in Baragoi primary school uniform while the remaining had assortment of dresses ranging from vests, lessos to ‘nkiyera’ shoes.

With the room full and decorated, DJ Eli Letipila released the first vibe of Shaka Shaka for opening the floor! I walked briskly and faced one of the girls whose name is withheld for security reasons; I bent in her direction to invite her for a dance, so did the other two that opened with me. All the girls removed shoes, I repeat- removed shoes! What happened was a mixture of wrestling, wriggling, twisting and Karate!

From the middle of nowhere, we saw a man lying on the floor, before we could comprehend what was happenening the man jumped up and almost filled the floor alone. The dance he employed was a hybrid of ‘Nkikori’and ‘maasani’ this was none other than DG Gab Lenengwesi.

I must admit he outclassed all of us, and I had to dash to the nearby bush where I had kept my Rungu.

Governor Lelelit Backed by Residents in Nachola, Samburu North

On Thursday 2nd April 2026, residents of Nachola in Samburu North turned out in large numbers to show support for Governor Hon. Lati Lelelit following an attempted arrest by a group of senators outside Parliament Building in Nairobi.
The incident is deeply concerning, given the manner in which the Governor Lelelit was manhandled by the Senators. Many residents across Samburu County have expressed outrage, arguing that senators overstepped their mandate. Unlike law enforcement agencies, senators are primarily tasked with legislative and oversight roles, including issuing summons—not ordering and/or effecting arrests.
The incident has sparked broader debate around leadership conduct and accountability under Constitution of Kenya. Article 73 (Chapter 6 of the CoK) clearly states that authority entrusted to State officers (like Senators) is a public trust, to be exercised with integrity, respect for the people, and in a manner that upholds national honor and confidence in public office.
Residents are now calling for a thorough investigation, that would lead to the arrest of Sen. Edwin Sifuna, Sen Wafula Wakoli, Sen. Oketch and others.

TWO GOVERNORS, ONE MISSION; SAMBURU NORTH UNITES for WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT and PEACE.

History was made on 31st March, 1st & 2nd April in Samburu North when Samburu County Governor, H.E. Lati Lelelit, EGH, joined hands with Turkana County Governor, H.E. Hon Jeremiah Napotikan, to lead a series of fundraisers for women’s groups in Baragoi, Logetei, Nachola Centre, and Marti. The initiative aims to economically empower women and strengthen livelihoods across the region.

The joint effort by the two governors was warmly received by residents, with a strong message of peaceful coexistence echoing throughout the events. Samburu North, home to both Samburu and Turkana communities, has experienced tensions in the past, making this collaboration a significant step toward unity and shared progress. The leaders emphasized the need for harmony as a foundation for sustainable development.

All leaders present, including the COTU 1st Assistant Secretary General, Bro. Ernest Nadome, former Samburu County Governor, Hon. Moses Lenolkulal, C.O. Major Leakono, CECM Education & vocational training, Hon. Mark Egelan, Dr. Josephine Kulea, Isiolo County First Lady Josephine Eregae, Turkana County 1st Lady Lilian Ekamais First Lady Turkana, Hon. Elizabeth Kalapata, and Hon. Antonella Lobura among others, reiterated calls for peace and underscored the importance of education as a key driver of transformation in the region.

RELIEF for MARTI RESIDENTS FOLLOWING THE RETURN of AMBULANCE.

After a long period without an ambulance, the residents of Marti in Nachola Ward can now breathe a sigh of relief following its return yesterday. The development comes after H.E. Governor Lati Lelelit intervened and fast-tracked the process.

Speaking yesterday in Marti during a women’s empowerment fundraiser, the Governor had assured residents that the ambulance would be returned, a promise he has now fulfilled.
