Japan is currently celebrating the Obon お盆 festival. 🇯🇵

Celebrated every year in mid-August, Obon is a time when Japanese people return to their hometowns, spend time with family, clean their ancestors’ graves, and respectfully remember those who have passed away.

In Nepal, we similarly remember and honour our ancestors during Pitri Paksha, also known as Sorha Shraddha. During G*i Jatra, we remember family members who passed away in the previous year and transform grief into collective support, courage, and a celebration of life.
