Flights at Berlin's international airport have been temporarily suspended due to poor weather conditions.

"Because of black ice and ongoing freezing rain, no take-offs or landings are currently possible at BER," an airport spokeswoman told DPA news agency.

She said while airport personnel had worked to clear runways overnight, this was only partially successful and surfaces remained extremely slippery. It is not clear when operations will resume.

Take-offs and landings had already been suspended on Thursday evening due to black ice.

Berlin experienced the coldest January in 16 years. Snow and freezing rain have caused major transport disruption across the German capital and beyond.

Meanwhile, Germany's national weather service (DWD) warned of freezing rain and black ice across areas of the northeastern part of the country. It said the situation was likely to improve during the day with temperatures staying near 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit).

📌 Step-by-Step Guide: What is CIMEA & How to Apply After Your Pre-Acceptance Letter?

If you’ve received your Pre-Acceptance Letter for studying in Italy — congratulations! 🎉
Your next major step is applying for CIMEA. In this post, we’ll break down what CIMEA is, why it’s important, and how to complete your application successfully.

✳ 1. What is CIMEA?

CIMEA is the official Italian ENIC-NARIC centre responsible for evaluating foreign academic qualifications. It issues two key documents:
• Statement of Comparability
• Statement of Verification

These are used to confirm that your academic degree is equivalent to an Italian qualification.

✳ 2. Why Do You Need CIMEA?

The Statement of Comparability is required to:
• Complete your pre-enrollment process
• Finalize your university enrollment in Italy after receiving your visa

Without it, your qualifications might not be recognized officially in Italy.

✳ 3. When Should You Apply?

You should ideally apply after receiving your Pre-Acceptance Letter.
However, early applications are also possible if you have your final documents ready.

✳ 4. What’s the Cost of CIMEA?

The full package (Comparability + Verification) costs €300.
Since this is a significant amount, we recommend waiting until your Pre-Acceptance is confirmed before applying.

✳ 5. Required Documents for CIMEA Application

You will need:
1. Passport (data page)
2. CIMEA Consent Form (available on the portal)
3. Final Academic Documents, such as:
• For Master’s applicants: Bachelor’s degree & transcript
• For Bachelor’s applicants: HSC/A-Levels & transcript
4. Apostilled PDF copies of your academic documents (via your country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

✳ 6. How Long Does CIMEA Take?
• Standard Processing: up to 60 working days
• Urgent Option: up to 30 working days

🟢 However, if all your documents are apostilled and complete, many students receive their certificates in 3 to 15 working days.

✳ 7. How to Apply for CIMEA

Here’s a simple 3-step process:
1. Register at www.cimea-diplome.it
2. Choose the Comparability and Verification service package
3. Fill in your details, upload documents, and make the payment

✅ The process is 100% online — no physical document submission is required.

✳ 8. Summary: Main Steps
1. Enter your personal and academic information
2. Upload all required documents
3. Make the payment

After submission, you’ll receive updates via email. Once ready, your certificates can be downloaded from the CIMEA portal.
