Mythry Arts & Sports Club is a socio-cultural organization established in Payyanur Theru of Payyanur Municipality, the cultural centre of Kannur district, the city of looms and lores. The club got registration under the Societies Act in the year 2003 (118/2003) and affiliated to Kerala Folklore Academy, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy (389/KNR, 2007), Nehru Yuva Kendra (PB 267/2004/NYKC) and Keral
a State Youth Welfare Board (KNR1313331). Recognizing various valuable activities organized by the club, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Kannur Sangathan selected the club as the Mentor Youth Club in Payyanur Block to give leadership and guidance to 102 youth clubs functioning in the block and affiliated to Nehru Yuva Kendra. The cultural wing of the club is the performers of art and culture such as, Payyanur Kolkkali, Poorakkali, Chendamelam and Parichamuttukali in various parts of the country under the cultural group of South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavoor, an organization of Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of India. AIM:
The prime aim of the club is to organize such valuable activities and events which are beneficial to the society as a whole. In view of this intention the club organses various social, cultural and sports events. The following are the specific objectives of the club:
• To pool up the youths of the area and expose their talents, skills and capabilities for organizing various activities to build up a moral society and nation.
• To organize valuable socio-cultural activities for the benefit of the society.
• To protect and popularize the traditional arts and culture by giving training to the new generation and performing programmes in various parts of the country and outside.
• To lift up the great tradition and culture of our country and proud to be an Indian.
• To promote national integration by celebrating nationally important days like Independence Day, Republic Day, National Leaders Day, etc.
• To enhance academic resourcefulness of children by giving them proper educational coaching and counseling.
• To act as the centre of promotion of employability in youths by organizing coaching classes to equip them for competitive exams conducted by Kerala Public Service Commission, Union Public Service Commission, Indian Banking Personnel Services (IBPS) etc.
