A beedi (pronounced /ˈbiːdiː/, from Hindi: बीड़ी, also spelled bidi or biri ) is a thin, South Asian cigarette filled with to***co flake and wrapped in a tendu leaf tied with a string at one end. Beedies accounted for 48% of Indian to***co consumption today . Indian to***co cultivation began in the late 17th century, and beedies were first created when to***co workers took left over to***co and ro
lled it in leaves. The commercial Indian beedi industry dates from the 1900s, and it saw rapid growth during the 1930s. By the middle of the 20th century beedi manufacture had grown into a highly competitive industry. Factory-based beedi production declined as a result of increased regulation during the 1940s, '50s and '60s,and beedi-making became a cottage industry with a home-based workforce. Over 3 million Indians are employed in the manufacture of beedies. The ci******es, called 'bidis'', 'beedies'' and 'beadies'' -- are manufactured in India and are widely available in paper-wrapped bundles of 25. The bidi cigarette is used in a number of eastern countries and contains a small amount of locally grown to***co which is flaked and hand rolled in a rectangular piece of dried Tendu Leaf (Diospyros melonoxylon). The size of a bidi can vary greatly, and this can alter the volume of smoke produced. A smaller bidi may produce less smoke than a cigarette. Manufacturing Process: Best quality Tendu Leaves or Bidi leaves (Diospyros melonoxylon) are hand picked. They are then dried in natural condition under the Sun. Before the leaves are cut to the desired size they are dampened to make the rolling procedure easy. A small amount of fine quality to***co which is flaked is handrolled in a rectangular piece of the dampened Tendu leaf. The to***co used is blended and flavoured, however, no chemicals or additives are added. Bidi Ci******es are totally made from natural products. After the bidi ci******es are rolled and sorted, to***co beedies are literally roasted in a coal fired furnace for the purpose of de-hydrating and bring out a special flavour which gets generated only when the khendu leaves and to***co shreds are near-roasted for specified temperature and for a specified time. Quality Check: Best quality Tendu leaves and To***co are procured. Each leaf is checked by our quality control staff. Each batch of Bidi Ci******es are tasted by experts. They are only shipped if they have the desirable taste and flavour.Bidis are natural product ingredients contains tembru or tendu leaf (Diospyros melonoxylon called in english) leaves are rolled & stuffed with natural tastier to***co with thread tide at one end .
