Recently at Storyybrook, young people were challenged to create and learn a dance routine, and the results were fantastic!

There was plenty of enthusiasm, creativity and laughter throughout, with everyone getting involved and supporting one another. The fun didn't stop there either, as mentors joined in too, making it a brilliant shared experience for all.

Activities like these are a great way to build confidence, encourage self-expression and strengthen positive relationships.

And if you watch closely, there may be a familiar face making an appearance... 👀

Every young person deserves the chance to feel successful, supported and believed in 💙

One of the young people supported through Storyy Education has been with us on and off throughout both Primary and Secondary school. Over time, strong relationships were built with both him and his family, helping him rebuild confidence in himself and what he could achieve.

Now, he’s sitting his GCSEs and has an apprenticeship lined up in a trade he genuinely enjoys!

Stories like this are such an important reminder that progress doesn’t always happen quickly, but with the right support, patience and environment, young people really can thrive.

We’re incredibly proud of how far he’s come, and so proud of the team who supported him along the way 👏

If you’re worried about a young person or feel they may benefit from a more tailored approach to education, Storyy Education is always happy to have a conversation!

May has been another positive month across Storyy Group, filled with opportunities for young people to learn, develop and challenge themselves.

Throughout our Alternative Provision settings, young people have explored topics ranging from personal safety and environmental awareness to healthy relationships, confidence and practical vocational skills. We have also seen fantastic examples of teamwork, peer support and young people taking pride in their achievements.

Within Storyy Homes, young people have continued building independence through workshops, community activities and new experiences, while also enjoying opportunities to celebrate culture, community and personal success.

May half term has already been and somehow the summer holidays are starting to creep up fast now ☀️

This time of year can feel really difficult for some young people, especially those who have had a challenging year with school, confidence or engagement. That’s why it’s so important to celebrate the progress they’ve made along the way, no matter how big or small it might seem.

Over the last half term across Storyy Education:
⭐ 146 young people were supported across our provisions and outreach
⭐ 8 young people started with us
⭐ 5 more are joining next half term
⭐ 3 young people successfully re-integrated back into education
⭐ 469 AQAs were achieved across our sites
⭐ 3 new schools began working with us

Behind every number is a young person building confidence, trying something new, engaging again or taking steps forward at their own pace.

A huge well done to all of the young people across our provisions this half term 👏

At Storyy Education, helping young people feel safe, supported and listened to is at the heart of everything we do 💙

Recently, we invited Debbie from Education Safeguarding Solutions to carry out an independent safeguarding audit across our provisions, and we’re so proud of the positive feedback shared by both the auditor and the young people themselves 👏

One of the biggest highlights was the strength of child voice across our sites, with young people sharing comments such as:

💙 “I feel safe here.”
💙 “Staff are kind and understanding.”
💙 “I can talk to staff about my worries.”
💙 “You can be yourself at Storyybrook.”

Hearing young people speak so positively about feeling safe, supported and understood means so much to our team.

A huge thank you to Debbie for her support throughout the process, and well done to all of our incredible staff across Storyy Education 👏

Recently at Storyybrook, our topic has focused on “Saving the Planet”, with young people taking part in a range of creative and practical activities linked to caring for the environment 🌍

Sessions included exploring why it is important to look after the planet, followed by creating tree crafts and working together to make miniature Earth rice krispie cakes.

Young people also spent time in the allotment planting and watering flower seeds, took part in litter picking around the provision, and completed activities focused on recycling and sorting rubbish into the correct categories 🌱

A lovely mix of teamwork, discussion and hands-on learning throughout the sessions.

If you’d like to find out more about Storyybrook and how we support young people, we’d be happy to talk.

When is a young person really ready for independence?

It’s not just about age or where they live, it’s about confidence, stability and having the right support in place.

At Storyy Group, we see independence as something that’s built over time, not rushed. With the right environment and guidance, young people can develop the skills, confidence and belief they need to move forward.

In our latest article, we share more about what readiness for independence really looks like, and how we support young people to get there 💛

Last week’s Challenge Friday was full of fun, teamwork and a bit of competition 🎯

Young people took part in a range of activities including apple bobbing, where the highest score reached an impressive 28 in one minute, and a plank challenge that showed lots of determination, with first place holding on for 2 minutes 30 seconds.

There was also an escape room challenge, where everyone worked together to uncover the final answer: “BECCI IS AMAZING” 😂

The sensory taste test brought plenty of laughs too, with reactions to coconut milk, garlic and beans keeping everyone entertained… followed by a much more welcome biscuit at the end.

A brilliant session with lots of energy and positive engagement throughout.

If you’d like to find out more about our provision, we’d be happy to talk.

Recently at our Supported Accommodation, young people decided they wanted to plan and cook a communal meal together 🌯

After choosing burritos, recipes were researched, ingredients lists were written and a shopping trip was organised before everyone came together to cook. Different roles were taken on throughout the evening, with young people working together to prepare a spicy minced beef filling with onions, peppers, kidney beans and taco seasoning.

The meal was finished with salad, cheese, guacamole, sour cream and nacho cheese sauce, before everyone sat down together to eat.

A really positive evening built around teamwork, independence and spending time together.

If you’d like to learn more about our Supported Accommodation, we’d love to talk.

Progress doesn’t always look the way you expect it to 💛

We’ve been supporting a young person at our Milton Keynes site who, when he first joined us, could only work 1:1 with one adult and found being around others really difficult.

Over time, that’s changed. He’s now spending time with other young people, joining in games, getting involved in his day and showing interest in learning again. He’s even started cooking and baking (which was a definite no before), engaging with maths, and reconnecting with reading through his love of manga and graphic novels.

One of the biggest changes has been his ability to trust adults and accept support, which is such an important step.

This is what progress can look like, small steps that build into something really meaningful ✨
