Alex and Lisa met whilst Alex was on a military tour in Afghanistan. They met on a social network site. Both lovers of music, Lisa having grown up around her father and uncles playing music and being in bands, and Alex always wanting to play music. After waiting for three months to meet in person, Alex returned from Afghanistan and the couple have never parted since, they married a year later, soo
n after Alex was voluntarily discharged from the forces. With the encouragement from Lisa, Alex did form his own band Shadey Scandals. Since forming Shadey Scandals, Alex and Lisa have also had affiliations with other bands formed to suit events, such as Shades of Ray and Darren and the Bone Rockers as well as some solo projects. Over time and lots of networking they have made some great connections with many talented musicians and bands. Having been helped by the charity SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Families Association) in the past, Alex and Lisa have been involved in fundraising, such as their first SSAFA Bandfest in 2014 which which is now being held as an annual event. Since holding their first event for SSAFA, they have been embraced by SSAFA and involved in their fundraising activities, including their viral ad campaign which they are proud to do :-)
More recently Alex, Lisa and the rest of the Shadey Scandals have produced, published and released a single called "Just another week" which is a song written by Alex that chronicles the emotions that they went through after coming out of the armed forces. I touches on the subjects of PTSD, employment etc that an veteran can experience, especially those who may have reached out to such charities as SSAFA. The song was released to raise awareness and funds with the cooperation of SSAFA themselves. More information can be found using the hashtag .
