THERE'S A PERSON BEHIND EVERY CV. 💜
And a story behind every job search.

After 20 years in recruitment, if there's one thing I've learnt, it's that there's usually a lot more going on behind someone's decision to look for a new job than you might think. I think that's why I've always loved what I do.

I genuinely enjoy getting to know people, hearing their stories and understanding what matters to them. Not just what they've done professionally, but what they're hoping life might look like in the future. Because there's no point finding someone a fantastic job on paper if it doesn't actually work for them in real life.

And if I don't have the right opportunity? That's okay too. I'm always happy to have a conversation, offer a bit of advice or just keep in touch.

Because to me, you're never just a CV. You're a person, and that matters. 💜

Finding a new job isn't always about just finding a new job. Sometimes it's about finding your confidence again. It can be realising you've outgrown where you are or it could be about wanting to spend more time with your family. It could be for so many different reasons and that's where I come in.

For me, recruitment isn't just about starting with a vacancy and finishing with a job offer, it's all the bits in between. It's about really truly listening to people, offering advice where I can, helping them recognise their own strengths and then preparing and supporting them through interviews and beyond.

And I can't always help. But I will always point you in the right direction.
Because you're not just another CV in my inbox, and your career is about so much more than your next job title.

Family business. Family time. ❤️

The out of office is officially ON!

The laptop is staying at home. I’ll still be available on WhatsApp if anyone really needs me, but for once the Rafferty family are all together and I’m going to make the most of it.

This is a huge part of why I run my own business, being able to take a week like this, get everyone together and just enjoy it. ❤️

Counter offers are a funny one for me.

I will never talk someone into taking one of my jobs. Obviously I want you to love the company, I probably love the company myself 😂 and if I've introduced you, it's because I can genuinely see you there. But I need you to see it too.

I've had a few conversations recently with candidates who decided to stay where they were, usually because more money was put on the table, and have since said they wish they'd made the move. And that's always hard to hear. Not because I think I told you so, but because I've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes the right career move isn't the one that pays the most money right now.

I've got people I placed 10 or 15 years ago who are still there. People who've been promoted time and time again, and people who have gone right through to Director level. That's the bit of recruitment I love.

I don't want you accepting a job because I've convinced you to. I want you to get to the end of the process, know exactly what you're walking into and be genuinely excited to say yes. Because I'm not really interested in placing someone for six months.

I want you look back in 10 years and think... that was a bloody good move.
