Let's rewind to last November…by Graham (Project Leader - PSS Mechanical Team).
"It was cold, wet and we'd just been told the company we worked for had ceased trading.
For myself and the team, the future looked every bit as bleak as the weather outside.
Then, in December, I got a call from Neil (Director of Partner Services Scotland Ltd) who said “We want you to get the team together and keep working here.”
Could it be done?
I'm sure there were reservations from every angle. But one thing that has always stayed with me was the conviction in Neil's voice.
Any doubts were quickly dismissed.
Yes, it would take hard work. We'd need the right people, trusted suppliers and reliable subcontractors.
But his belief never wavered.
We could do it.
And we did.
Fast forward seven months and, after a tremendous amount of hard work, the PSS Mechanical Division is in a strong position.
Every manager will tell you that the key to success is surrounding yourself with the right people, a blend of trusted experience and enthusiastic new talent eager to learn.
That's exactly what we've built.
We've got Alan, Mick, Billy, the two Tommys, Garry and Steve (our “old guard”) bringing together more than 200 years of combined site experience across pipework, cleanroom construction and problem-solving.
If they don't know it, it's probably not worth knowing!
Alongside them are Ryan and Dylan (the “new kids on the block”) learning from some of the very best in the business and helping secure the future of the division.
And then there's me, leading the team and bringing all of that experience, knowledge and talent together.
But the important thing is this:
It's not about one person. It's about the team.
Whether we're designing and building a new cleanroom or responding to an emergency pipe repair in a 24/7 operational facility, everyone has a part to play."
A lot of posts come from Marketing teams, Owners or Directors.
When the narrative comes from the team, it feels much more powerful and real.
Our role is to support the team in achieving our ambitions, give them the resources they need and react as quickly as possible to their needs.
Then it's about respect, trust and reward that gets us to our goals.
