EVENT: Andy Venables - Managing Director from Hillsgreen Rural Marketing Company

Lecture Theatre: EGLT - Engineering Innovation Centre

Times: 7:30pm to 8:30pm, then chance to ask questions at the end.

Talk about Andy’s farming background. How he found his way into the world of marketing, setting up Hillsgreeen and launching campaigns such as Mission 4 Milk and Mission AG.

Mission 4 Milk was launched in 2019 and a new initiative Mission AG is in it’s early stages.

Everyone Welcome, please come a long and support the final speaker of the Agric Society year 2023.

EVENT: NEIL HOWIE - TODAY

Please get ready to welcome Neil Howie from Agri King Ltd on Tuesday the 14th of March (this Tuesday) at 7:30pm in the regional food academy.

He will give an introduction about his career and then talk about how animal agriculture is essential for people and the planet.

The presentation and questions will end at 8:30, and anyone will be welcome to hang around for more questions after.

Neil was trained as a vet, then spent 32 years as senior farm partner for Nantwich Veterinary Group. Since 2012 he has been a livestock production consultant, and now an area manager for the UK and Ireland for Agri King.

Tomorrow, 7.30pm in the Royal Food Academic lecture theatre.

Talk about Veclourt

The Agricultural Society have organised for Nick Shorter from Velcourt to come and give a talk about Velcourt business.

To give some back about Velcourt:

• leading farming company

• offer a variety of services from farm management, international farm management, livestock management & advice, agronomy service, arable research & developnent, renewable energy.

• velcourt has 228 tractors, 41 combine harvester, 7,484 dairy cattle, 10,200 sheep, 1,200 beef cattle.

• 15 dairy units, 93 velcourt-managed farms, 57,000 ha covered by Velcourt’s agronomy service and 56,688 ha managed by Velcourt in the Uk.

•Velcourt produces 70 million liters of milk, 2,997 tonnes of top fruit, 322,857 tonnes of combinable crops, 206 ha of onions, 737 ha of potatoes and 814 ha of sugar beet.

The talk will last for approximately 1 hour with time afterwards for questions or a chance to speak to Nick directly.

Talk on Regenerative Agriculture.

The Agricultural Society have organised for Rob Parker from G's Fresh to come and give a talk on regenerative agriculture and G's journey with it.

To give some background, G's Fresh:

- Are one of the UK's leading vegetable growers, packers and marketers.
- Are the UK's largest growers of lettuce and organic beetroot.
- Have a wide ranging business incorporating; AD, field veg, mushrooms, cereals, plant nurseries, packing and marketing.

As part of their Regenerative journey, they have:

- Cut down their ploughed area from 6000 ha/year to 200.
- Gone from having a growing crop in the ground for 14 months in 36, to 35 months in 36.

The talk will last for approximately 1 hour with time afterwards for questions or a chance to speak to Rob directly.

This is a great opportunity to hear from someone at the forefront of incorporating Regenerative techniques into commercial vegetable production. Do come along and bring anyone else that may find it interesting.

Last week, the Agric Society had Hefin Richards from Rumenation Nutrition Consultancy. He talked about his life during and after being a Harper student, the role of being a nutrition consultant from challenges from environmental and economic constraints. He gave us very useful advice for Uni, career and life. Thankyou Hefin for a great speaker night
