👋 Hi, I’m Rebecca, Founder & Managing Director of Enable Futures Recruitment. I’ve worked in recruitment for over 17 years (which makes me feel slightly older than I’d like!), and during that time I’ve been lucky enough to work with some brilliant businesses and candidates across the South West.

I’m a Taunton girl, but I’ve also lived in Plymouth and managed teams in Exeter, so I know Somerset, Devon and the wider South West extremely well – not just the businesses, but the people and the local recruitment market too.

I set up Enable Futures because I wanted recruitment to feel a little different: personal, straightforward, affordable and genuinely helpful. No complicated sales pitch – just good recruitment, honest advice and a service that works for businesses of all shapes and sizes.

I recruit across a wide range of sectors and love nothing more than finding that person who just fits – the right skills, the right personality and the right business.

👉 And when I’m not recruiting?
You’ll usually find me exploring the South West coastline or walking the hills with my daughter Ava and my Cavapoo, Millie.

Or, given the choice, firmly embracing spa life! Hot saunas, cold ice baths and spa therapy are very much my happy place.

👋 So, if we’re connected on LinkedIn but haven’t worked together yet – hello!
If you're hiring now, planning ahead, or simply fancy finding out how I work, I'd love to have a chat.

👋 Let’s talk about recruitment fees.

☑️Recruitment fees of 15%, 18%, even 20% of salary are still fairly common. But do they need to be?

☑️ At Enable Futures, our fee is 10% of the starting salary.

👉 Not because we offer less.

👉 Not because we cut corners.

Simply because we’re an independent recruitment business with lower overheads, working closely with businesses across Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and the wider South West.

That allows us to keep our costs sensible – and pass those savings on to our clients.

For a £35,000 hire:
20% fee = £7,000
15% fee = £5,250
Our 10% fee = £3,500

▪️That’s a significant difference to a recruitment budget.

But for me, this isn’t really about being the cheapest.

It’s about offering a fee that businesses can realistically afford to use again and again.

I want clients to call me for their next vacancy, and the one after that. I want to understand their business, the people who work there and the type of person who will genuinely fit.

That means providing a great local service, being available when you need me, finding the right people and offering proper aftercare once someone starts.

Long-term relationships over quick wins. Every time.

▪️So if you're regularly paying 15–20% for recruitment, perhaps it's worth asking what you're getting for the extra cost.

Great recruitment doesn't have to come with a huge fee.

10%. Local. Independent. Straightforward.

👋 Why are good candidates dropping out of recruitment processes? It’s something I’m seeing more and more in recruitment at the moment.

💥 You find a great candidate. They interview well. Everyone is positive. Then… they’re gone.💥 They’ve accepted another role, lost interest, or decided to stay where they are. And quite often, it isn’t about the salary. A few things I think really make a difference:

• Speed matters – good candidates are often interviewing with more than one company. Waiting a week to give feedback can be enough to lose them.

• Keep the interview process simple – do you really need three or four stages for the role you’re recruiting for?

• Be upfront about salary – candidates want to know early on whether expectations align.

• Keep communicating – even if you haven’t made a decision yet, an update keeps someone engaged and shows them how your business communicates.

• Don’t hold out forever for the “perfect” candidate – sometimes the person who ticks 80–90% of the boxes, has the right attitude and genuinely wants the opportunity is the better hire.

✔️ One thing I always tell my clients is that recruitment works both ways. You’re deciding whether you want to hire the candidate, but they’re also deciding whether they want to work for you.

✔️ A straightforward, friendly and efficient recruitment process can make a huge difference.

✔️ And when you find someone good – don’t hang around!

What’s the biggest challenge you’re finding with recruitment at the moment?
