Stafford Brigades Youth Band

Stafford Brigades Youth Band Stafford Brigades provides music and performance opportunities for children and young people in Stafford and the surrounding area.

We are Stafford's oldest band, if you can believe it. Go and give us a like and a share! Stafford Brigades is Stafford’s oldest and most vibrant marching band which provides music and performance opportunities for ALL children and young people aged 5+. We have a strong tradition running through our core which makes us proud to be part of such an organisation but we are constantly changing and adap

ting to suit today’s generation. We have two bands: Our Newly Formed Cadets and our Youth Band. Our Cadets are for those children in school years 1 and 2 and are new to music and just want to learn and have lots of fun. Our Youth Band is for those in year 3 and above and open to all children and young people from complete beginners to those who have played an instrument before or still play. We are currently recruiting for our cadets and youth band on all instruments, however places are limited in a few sections, so please get in touch to reserve your place so you’re not disappointed. All our members enjoy a variety of activities as well as music, such as, camping, parties, social events and days out. We are offering your child 4 WEEKS FREE to come and try out various instruments and to see whether this activity is for them. We currently meet on a Monday evening 6-7pm for our Cadets and 6.30-8pm for our youth band. Both are held at St Bertelin’s Church, Holmcroft, Stafford. All instructors are DBS checked and are trained by the Boys Brigade. We take part in various competitions, parades and displays around the country as well as having fun days out, social events and weekends away. All our members have LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN and love being a apart of Stafford Brigades. After your 4 week free trial, subs are on a half-termly basis.

We’ve been a bit quiet over the summer and had a good rest ready for us to start back and into the music for our next few events.

Just before we broke up for summer, some of our senior band members went to Newcastle Under Lyme to provide the music for a civic event!

Again, something different for us, but was a great experience. Most of our members had their first experience of music stands, folders and a strong wind too… safe to say, a lot of pegs were needed!

Over the coming months some of our senior band members will be performing at Hickories Smokehouse, Stafford, as part of their Superbowl Event they are hosting Sunday 13th September. We have our 40th Anniversary Concert and St Bertelin’s (our home) 70th Anniversary Service in October and Remembrance Day events!

A busy few months, but a fun and musical few months, with a wide range of music and styles! Keep your eyes peeled for updates over the next few months.

Another fantastic message from a parent today. Although not directly musical related, it’s definitely something to share!

One of members today received her Silver Blue Peter Badge for her efforts raising money for Comic Relief. She took this upon herself to organise and raise funds for such an important cause.

They felt she deserved their Silver Blue Peter Badge for her efforts and demonstrating acts of kindness, community work, volunteering and fundraising.

We love hearing about all the different and positive things our members are involved in, within band and in their own lives.

Fantastic work!

We love receiving videos from parents like this.

One of our junior snare drummers practicing hard at home after starting to learn one of our drum pieces.

He’s only been with us a few months and he is doing amazing and it’s great to see the progress he is making!

Keep it up!

We are out today with our info stand in Stafford part of Staffordshire Day in the town centre!

Perfect opportunity to pop down and speak to us about the band, what we get up to and how to get involved! We have some of our senior band members around too to help answer any questions.

We also have a jigsaw stall, to help raise funds for the band… so if you’re a keen puzzler, then come and see if any take your fancy… only £2 each!

The sun was out and it was a tad warm, but it was fantastic to be back out leading the St George’s Day Parade today in Stafford with Stafford District Scouts.

A while since we had this many out and marching in ranks of 4, but they all did amazing. For some of our members it was their very first parade with us, and for others it was their first on a new instrument.

Such a great afternoon.
