Relief Milker wanted, Dorchester, Dorset

Reliable and dedicated relief milker required to help cover a 150 cow dairy until the new herdsperson starts at the end of January 2026.
Flexibility to include one or two weekends and few days a week to fit around the current long term relief staff.
Genuine passion for animal welfare and a positive approach to work is needed.

Milking approximately 140 cows on a 20:20 HB parlour.
Maintaining high standards of cow welfare, cleanliness and parlour hygiene.
Spotting any health concerns and reporting issues promptly
Supporting smooth daily routines and contributing to a positive farm environment.

Previous milking experience essential.
Reliability, attention to detail and a calm and considerate approach to working with animals.
Must be willing to undergo DBS checks before starting as it is on a college site.

Cubicle housed on straw in winter and paddock grazed in summer

General farm worker/ Relief milker required on a 200 cow dairy in North Bristol.

Responsible for a combination of milking and yard work consisting of preparing and scraping cubicles for the milking herd and youngstock, as well as calf feeding when required.

Outside of routine work, the primary focus would be upon maintaining the facilities and equipment around the farm, including keeping yards clean, fencing, washing and greasing machinery, keeping silage clamps suitable for feeding and occasional tractor work (topping, muck hauling etc).

There would also be a requirement to assist occasionally with other livestock (the farm has a small flock of sheep which would need checking when other staff are off).

Milking experience required as you would be required to milk the cows on a relief basis.
Ability to feed would be an advantage but not essential as training can be given.

Reporting to the farm manager and herdsperson you would need to be a team player, be reliable, conscientious and happy to muck in with the team as and when required.

A full UK driving license is required for this position so please only apply if you have this.

Assistant Herdsperson required on a 200 pedigree Holstein cow dairy in North Bristol. The herd is milked 3 x daily through a 24:24 DeLaval parlour. Superb set up with sand bed cubicles, auto scrapers, transition yards, dedicated calving boxes, modern machinery, HTL auto foot crush. A.I not a necessity but could be beneficial.

This 280 day contract may suit an individual who is experienced in a parlour but wanting to further their career and be supported by the farm manager. Must also be able to work in a team with other experienced staff but take responsibility and initiative for the herd when the manager is off.
The applicant would join a team consisting of two full time farm staff, relief milking staff along with a team of night milkers. You would not be required to milk for the night routine.

Accommodation available within a short distance from the farm.

Due to retirement, an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced herdsperson for a high yielding 250 Friesian Holstein herd in Dorchester, Dorset

The parlour is a modern 24:24 HB with auto ID.
Cubicle housed on sand bedding, TMR fed.
AYR calving.

The successful applicant will be required to maintain the herds’ high performance and must meet the highest standard of cleanliness, dairy hygiene and be experienced with records and a fully computerised parlour.

Experience with A.I and foot trimming are also preferred for this role
