Judith Essex School of Dancing

Judith Essex School of Dancing Teaching Ballet, Tap & Modern Dance for 25 years in Sevenoaks, Oxted and surrounding areas. Becky is another recruit from within the school.

Judith Essex started the school in 1988 and was quickly joined by Janet; they had previously met and become friends at a renowned theatre school in the Midlands. Emma and Becky joined in 2005 and 2008 respectively, having both been pupils from an early age and now contribute hugely to the running of the school. In 2013 we were delighted to welcome Judith Hamlet who is a highly experienced dance te

acher and increases the depth of the school's teaching expertise. Judith undertook 6 years training at Arts Educational School at Tring for the Performing Arts, where she studied all forms of dance. She undertook her first dance teaching role at Pattison College in Coventry where she met Janet Brown. Judith has a lengthy list of theatre and ballroom teaching qualifications. Emma started dancing at the school at the age of 5 and following years of excellent exam results decided to teach dance. She qualified to teach both ballet and modern in 2006 and then tap the following year, since when Emma has undertaken extensive training with other teachers to broaden her experience. As well as having now joined the teaching staff Emma has taken on the role of Wardrobe Mistress to provide some of the superb costumes used in shows. She also started dancing at the age of 5 with a similar experience. Becky was a "Saturday girl" for several years which added to her knowledge before opting to join the teaching staff as an Assistant Teacher. Becky is now well advanced in her studies and in July 2010 passed her first teaching exam with excellent results and was nominated for the Student of the Year award by the International Dance Teachers Association, the examining body. Judith Hamlet started ballet at the age of 3 with the Rita Emmerson School and progressed to the London College of Dance for 3 years’ full-time training where she gained performance experience in numerous styles of dance together with several teaching qualifications. Judith runs her own dance school and has taught for Chelsea Ballet Schools for over 20 years. She has joined The Judith Essex School with full IDTA qualifications and is very happy to be part of the team.
