Job Description: Transport Planner - 6am - 2pm

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a proactive and personable Transport Planner to join our logistics team. This is a vital role, ideally suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a genuine passion for building strong working relationships with both drivers and customers.

Working the early morning shift from 6am to 2pm, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet each day. This includes coordinating deliveries, managing schedules, and addressing any logistical issues that arise. You’ll also be expected to work one weekend per month as part of the rota.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate daily transport activities to ensure efficient fleet operation.
Communicate effectively with drivers to provide clear instructions and respond to any on-the-road issues.
Liaise with customers to provide updates, resolve queries, and maintain high service levels
Monitor driver hours, breaks, and availability in line with Working Time Directive and Tachograph regulations.
Contribute to continuous improvement in transport planning processes.
Learn internal systems and procedures, with full training provided until fully competent.
What We’re Looking For:

Excellent people skills – this is a must!
Strong communicator.
Some knowledge or experience of the transport/logistics industry
Familiarity with driver hours, tachographs, and Working Time Directive preferred
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
Comfortable working in a time-critical, team-based environment
Organised, with great attention to detail
IT literate and willing to learn new systems

A friendly reminder!

At Reynolds, safety and compliance are at the heart of everything we do. We’d like to take a moment to remind all our drivers about the important procedures to follow in the event of a lost, stolen, or malfunctioning Digi card.

Understanding and following the correct steps not only helps us stay compliant with regulations but also ensures the safety of everyone on the road. It’s really important to get this right because not following the correct procedures can lead to serious consequences. Drivers could face penalty points on their license or even fines, and as a company, we’re required to notify the Traffic Commissioner, which can affect our OCRS. This not only impacts us as a business but can also have wider effects on everyone’s day to day operations.

Here’s a quick refresher on what to do if you experience any issues with your Digi card:
Loss of Digi Card

If the card has been lost, stolen or damaged or is malfunctioning, a driver may drive without the card for a maximum of 15 calendar days provided that they produce 2 printouts.

One at the start of the day and another at the end so long as there is no change of vehicle.

Where there is a change of vehicle then a printout will need to be taken at the start and end of the use of vehicle 1 and then a printout at the start and end of vehicle 2 and so on.

All printouts must be marked with:

• the driver’s name or driver card or license number, so the driver can be identified

• any manual entries needed to show periods of other work, availability, and rest or break

• the driver’s signature

The driver must report the problem to DVLA and apply for a new card within seven calendar days.
