#4 – Performance review

Performance reviews are essential to track if your employees are working towards the direction of the goals of the business.

Whether your talent is holding a position as a junior role or senior role, the review allows them to know where they stand and how they can improve.

By doing this as a business once a year, you will have a rough idea of whether to promote your top talent or increase their salary.

There are a variety of skills needed to become a good Project Manager, here are a few points we feel are most important for the role 👇

1) Financial management - projects in the construction industry frequently cost more than expected. It is your responsibility as a project manager to request additional funds to keep the project moving forward, which requires you to explain where the money has gone and why more is needed.

2) Time management - this is related to money, as an overrun project will inevitably cost more. This skill demonstrates confidence and ensures that your on-site team is working as effectively and efficiently for the client as possible. Leadership abilities are required to manage and organise the workforce, as well as to foster a collaborative environment in which relationships with suppliers and clients can be easily managed.

3) Communication - you'll be interacting with construction workers, architects, stakeholders, council planners, architects, and engineers. That's a lot of people who need to be kept up to date on what's going on.

There are so many myths about recruitment, here are some points that we thought would be the most useful to learn from!

Myth 1: Small recruitment agencies shouldn't be trusted

Most of the big recruitment agencies out there are big for a reason. Some of the best recruitment agencies are quite niche in their operations. Smaller agencies don't need a lot of staff to provide their clients with an amazing level of service. Instead, decades of industry-specialist experience and networking do it for them.

Myth 2: Experience is a good way to measure a candidate's competence

Just because someone is older does not mean they are any wiser. Having experience is not the best way to measure someone's worth. Looking at the candidate’s skillset and personality traits is the best technique for hiring a valuable team member.

Myth 3: AI will soon replace recruiters

There has been a lot of talk of jobs disappearing thanks to automation recently in the news. Recruitment is all about connecting people and personalities, computers are not going to generate the same communication and emotions we have for others.

Myth 4: Recruiters only care about money

Most recruiters spend years learning their craft. They may even have had a career in their specialist area before switching to recruitment. This type of recruiter will be an asset to you and will bend over backwards to help you out.

#1 - Industry Knowledge

A Project Manager can guide you through the entire process. They possess in-depth knowledge of all aspects of construction and management, allowing them to oversee everything.

This includes the selection of the architect and contractor, to guide the homeowner through the construction process.

They will keep all key aspects of the project up and running without needing supervision.

ProBuilds Recruitment's goal is to add true value to the construction industry by providing our clients with a personalised recruitment experience.

Permanent direct hire recruitment is a more traditional method of hiring. We thoroughly vet our candidates to ensure that not only do their experience and skillset match the brief, but that their personality, values, and goals align with what your company requires.
