There’s nothing wrong with needing extra help around the home — but if you need childcare and housekeeping, make sure you’re hiring for the right role and that responsibilities are agreed from the beginning.

…and then you walk through the door and suddenly EVERYTHING changes.

More tears. More demands. More big feelings.

Children often show different sides of themselves with different caregivers — and sometimes home, with the people they feel most secure with, is where all those emotions finally come out.

So no, it doesn’t automatically mean they “behave better” for the nanny.

The transition back to school can feel exciting... but also overwhelming—for children and parents alike.

Instead of trying to change everything overnight, focus on small, consistent routines that help your child feel safe and settled.

✨ A few simple tips:
• Start bedtime 15–20 minutes earlier a few days before school starts.
• Prepare uniforms, school bags and lunches the night before.
• Keep mornings calm and avoid rushing where possible.
• Remember that big emotions are completely normal during the first week back.
• After school, give your child a little time to decompress before asking lots of questions about their day.

Children thrive on routine—but routines take time to build.

In those early weeks, your baby learns so much simply by being close to you. Looking at your face, listening to your voice, cuddles, feeding and everyday moments are all helping their development.

I didn’t start Nest & Kin because I wanted to build a business.
I started it because I know what it’s like to try and do everything alone.

Before running an agency, I spent over 10 years working as a nanny. Then I became a mum, and everything changed.
I experienced first- hand how important it is to have the right support around you.

Today, my goal is simple: to help families find someone they can genuinely trust with the people they love most.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion…

I truly believe children don’t need tablets to be constantly entertained. The moments they’ll remember most are often the simplest ones: reading together, playing, talking, laughing, and making memories.
