We have a super new role for to work for a leading London based medical publisher as Production Editor. Working on one of their flagship journals the Production Editor will be responsible for the journals from submission stage to early online publication.

This position will report to the Head of Production and is an ideal opportunity for someone with a science degree and experience of working within scientific journal publishing to take responsibility for a highly successful journal, including new submissions, peer review, manuscript acceptance and dealing with proofs.

You will liaise with authors and work with the Submissions team regarding new figures, article layout and online articles, as well as work with other internal team members such as Managing Editors, Senior Production Editors and Senior Editors. Further aspects of this role will include acting as intermediary between editors and authors regarding any issues related to ethics, plagiarism and pre-published papers. You will become familiar with the company’s house style and keep up to date with changes to the production process as required.

This is an ideal position for someone who is looking for further responsibility and a new challenge within journal publishing.The successful person will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a scientific subject, with experience in a production editor or similar role.

You will have a knowledge of InDesign, and the ability to manage high quality work whilst working to deadlines. As this is a busy role, it is essential that you have the ability to multi-task and adapt to different situations and the ability to learn new processes and task quickly. Strong IT skills are essential as are sound admin and numeracy skills.

We have a super new opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Editor to join a leading London based STM publishing organisation, working on their physical sciences and engineering lists.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced acquisitions/commissioning editor looking to take on more responsibility and work on a broad list of titles. This is a highly responsible role and the successful person will need to demonstrate previous success in this area.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:
• Acquiring new titles and new editions of key backlist titles in the areas of Maths, Physics and Engineering.
• Negotiate contracts and terms with Publisher, authors, editors and contributors
• Build a network of academic contacts
• Develop acquisitions plans and identify relevant trends and market demographics
• Work as part of the publishing team to create, implement and track projects
• Create proposals, including costing and pricing suggestions. Update and keep abreast of existing product portfolios

This is a highly desirable Commissioning role, working for a highly successful and respected publishing organisation and the role requires relevant experience, tenacity and a can-do approach.

The successful person will have:
• Demonstrable relevant commissioning experience within the areas of physics, engineering and/or maths
• A degree in a relevant scientific subject
• Experience in identifying and recruiting potential authors
• Strong negotiating and numeracy skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills
• A can-do approach to your work and a resourceful team player

This role carries an excellent salary and benefits package depending on experience.

We have a lovely role for an experienced sales professional with experience of sales within the educational publishing industry, to work for a global educational publisher within their Higher Education division.

The Sales Executive (Learning Consultant UK HE) will be responsible for the Midlands territory and will promote key print and digital products and solutions in HE establishments, and academics to maximise revenue and achieve agreed sales goals through all sales channels.

This is a full-time, home-based role covering a maternity leave and will involve identifying and closing new business opportunities and visiting key Higher Education Institutions within the territory as well as liaising with campus bookshops on a regular basis, highlighting relevant key titles, new editions and promotions, and working with the in-house sales team.

The successful person will be a motivated individual who is results and customer driven. You will have a proven track record of sales success within the educational publishing industry and/or selling print and digital products. You will have strong negotiation and organisational skills and a full driving licence.
This role offers a very competitive salary, bonus, car allowance and a generous benefits package.
