What we are looking for ….
Experienced transport operator/planner within the transport industry, ideally within haulage
Strong administration skills
Reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the business
Effective communication skills
Attention to detail is a key part of the role
Organised, able to prioritise and plan to meet evolving deadlines
IT literate, competent in Microsoft packages and planning systems and IT
Self-motivated, flexible and confident
General haulage knowledge
Outstanding Geographical knowledge
Competent in using various IT systems and packages
The ability to grow and develop general haulage contracts
Experience within a similar transport manager position
Must have a ‘can-do attitude
Presentable, polite and demonstrate excellent customer service skills
Strong customer service skills
Demonstrate an understanding of a range of different legislations
The Role
As the Transport planner, you will be proactive in your ability to plan and maximise the utilisation of the fleet. You will know what is working well within your area of responsibility and be able to identify opportunities for additional business to planned and scheduled.
· Driver de-brief and pre-brief
· Reporting discrepancies/late running and the desired solution
· Keeping traffic system up to date to ensure transparency and clarity for all involved
· Handover to night transport team
· Build closer relationships with haulage partners both franchise and external
· Negotiate haulage rates and ensure that current details are set against correct contracts
· Maximise available resources to ensure all customer orders are fulfilled with optimum benefit to all in the supply chain
· Weekly report on the good and bad for that week include financials and the same for the following week.
· Ensure all customer orders and haulage details are entered onto the day sheets
· Administration associated with sub-contractor business.
· CPC – Transport Management Qualification (desirable)
· Must have a can-do attitude
· Competent decision making
· Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
