“This too shall pass.”
I heard this for the first time recently, and it stuck.
It’s often mistaken for a Stoic quote, but it actually comes from Persian tradition. Either way, it captures the emotional reality of running a business better than most.
Because let’s be honest…
LinkedIn can make it look like everyone’s business is fantastic and life is perfectly balanced. I’m sure there are people who have built a successful business without the emotional roller coaster ride, but I’ve never met one. Have you?
One day you’re celebrating winning a new client.
The next, you’re questioning whether you made the right call, or if you’re even cut out for it.
That’s the real entrepreneur’s journey.
The truth is, the best way to stay sane is to surround yourself with good people who’ve been there, done that, and got the T-shirt.
They’ve felt the pressure. They’ve made the mistakes. And they’ve come out stronger, with perspective and grit that only experience gives you.
A brilliant book that captures this beautifully is 'Let Them' by Mel Robbins. It’s a refreshing reminder to let go of what you can’t control and focus your energy on what you can.
Well worth a read.
So, if you’re in the thick of it right now, remember: This too shall pass.
And when it does, you’ll be wiser, tougher, and more grounded than before.
